Background

Ammon was once the God of Deception, a mythical creature characterized by immense power, deception, parasitism, and a profound lack of humanity. He could create and command avatars, steal fate to turn victims into clones, and treat mortals as insignificant insects. His clones cannot directly share memories with the main body; information must be synchronized between them. He can, however, sense when someone wears a monocle over their right eye. 199 373

During the struggle surrounding the Origin Castle, Ammon was defeated by the “current Mystery.” As punishment, he was stripped of his Extraordinary Abilities and placed into the body of a six- or seven-year-old child on ancient Earth. He initially regarded this life as a cage imposed by his father, but reframed it as a challenge and began participating in orphanage life before escaping shortly before the New Year. 631

Ammon identifies Adam as his older brother and originally believed the True Creator to be Sarsiriel, his “wild brother.” He only later learned that the True Creator was his biological father. 649

Appearance

In his mortal form, Ammon appears as a thin young boy with a conspicuous mark around his right eye. His attempts to conceal it leave him with noticeable dark circles, a feature that follows him into later childhood. 631 634 659

  • Thin build; initially appears six or seven years old. 631
  • Faint birthmark around the right eye. 631
  • Dark circle beneath the right eye after unsuccessfully using concealer. 634
  • Commonly associated with a monocle worn over the right eye in his former identity. 479
  • Was previously seen as a red-haired youth before his mortal ordeal. 560

Personality

Ammon is cunning, theatrical, proud, and prone to treating deception as entertainment. Even when facing danger, he instinctively acts, misleads, and searches for psychological weaknesses. His confrontation with Sno particularly frustrates him because Sno’s imitation severs the usual connection Ammon expects to have with his own avatars. 479

His child body forces him to experience fear, pain, hunger, panic, and emotional impulses that his former mythical state did not require him to understand. He initially considers these feelings humiliating external influences, yet gradually recognizes that they are changing how he sees both himself and ordinary people. 634 635 651 654

Ammon remains defiant and deeply resistant to being shaped into the person his father and the current Mystery want him to become. His repeated escapes are motivated as much by stubbornness as by a desire for freedom. 651 659

Abilities & Skills

Theft

As a high-ranking Thief, Ammon can steal abstract and physical targets rather than merely objects.

  • Steals thoughts, memories, lifespan, Extraordinary Abilities, distance, and even a portion of incoming damage. 324 325 479
  • Uses stolen distance to flash across a battlefield. 324 325
  • A clone endured Pallez’s lightning by stealing part of its damage rather than resisting it outright. 325
  • Can parasitize microorganisms and continue stealing through them. 479
  • Theft can be countered by unusual targets; Sno’s resettable self-perception made stolen lifespan ineffective. 479

Avatars and Parasitism

Ammon can produce avatars and transform others through theft of fate.

  • His avatars can be much weaker than the main body; most are described as operating around the strength of a Sequence Four branch, while one combat clone had barely reached Sequence Three. 324 325
  • Avatars and the main body require synchronization to share memories. 199
  • He can sense someone placing a monocle over their right eye, a habit tied to his parasitic presence. 199
  • His clone network is feared because discovering one Ammon may mean that many more are nearby. 373

Deception and Psychological Manipulation

Even after losing supernatural power, Ammon retains the mindset and experience of a master deceiver.

  • Uses feigned obedience, childish behavior, and calculated naivety to manipulate gang members. 632
  • Exploits the guilt and unease of human traffickers by subtly rearranging objects around their hideout. 639
  • Rapidly reads criminal behavior, surveillance habits, and potential threats. 632 646 655
  • Can convincingly imitate an innocent child’s manner of speech when attempting to deceive adults. 647

Thief’s Expertise

The loss of his powers does not erase the practical knowledge accumulated over thousands of years.

  • Identifies security blind spots and escapes the orphanage without triggering attention. 632
  • Escapes professional restraints by loosening joints, altering knots, and using rope-escape techniques. 635
  • Picks locks quickly enough to escape confinement by traffickers. 643 644
  • Recognizes fencing locations and hidden trade signs for stolen goods. 654
  • Demonstrates combat instincts sufficient to incapacitate armed adults despite his child body. 644 647

Technical Improvisation

Ammon draws on knowledge retained from the All-Knowing Pathway to exploit modern technology.

  • Created and activated a signal-jamming device that disrupted nearby surveillance. 652
  • Uses computers, maps, smartphones, and internet research to construct identities, plan routes, and study the modern world. 645 646
  • Cannot create technology beyond the capabilities of contemporary industry, even when applying Beyonder-derived knowledge. 652

Limitations

  • His mortal body lacks all of his former Extraordinary Abilities and is physically limited to that of a child. 631 647
  • Fear, pain, exhaustion, and hormonal emotional responses can overwhelm or distort his judgment. 634 635 640
  • His decision-making is initially impaired by never having needed to judge danger from a weak person’s perspective. 640
  • Long-distance travel and physical exertion leave him injured, sore, and vulnerable despite his willpower. 654 655

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Monocle — Worn over his right eye as part of his recognizable former image. 479
  • Rusty crown — A peculiar crown given to Medici in exchange for information on Pallez. 560
  • Smartphone — Used to research mythology, maps, transportation, and possible false identities. 645 646
  • Signal-jamming device — Built from modern components and All-Knowing Pathway knowledge to disrupt surveillance. 652
  • Outdoor supplies — During one escape, carried magnesium rods, waterproof matches, a windproof lighter, screwdriver, nail clippers, outdoor knife, spare clothing, and other small survival items. 657

Relationships

  • The True Creator — Ammon’s biological father, though Ammon only learns this later. His mortal ordeal is intended to force Ammon to understand humanity. 635 649
  • Adam — Regarded by Ammon as his older brother; Ammon gives Li Anbang Adam’s name when asked about family. 649
  • Sarsiriel — Initially regarded by Ammon as a “wild brother” before he learns the truth about his parentage. 649
  • Sno — Rival and imitator who poses as Ammon, confuses Ammon’s avatar network, and turns Ammon’s own habits of deception against him. 479 601
  • Pallez Zoroaster — Long-pursued enemy who attacks an Ammon clone with lightning and remains a major threat to Ammon’s avatars. 324 325
  • Medici — Knows Ammon from before his mortal life; Ammon calls him “the idiot who taught me how to lie.” 560 649
  • Li Anbang — Police officer who takes Ammon home and becomes his foster father. His influence helps Ammon choose not to kill a human trafficker. 648 651 656
  • Sister Qiong and A Liang — Human traffickers who abduct Ammon. He escapes their operation after incapacitating A Liang; both are later found dead. 634 644 645
  • The current Mystery — The figure who defeated Ammon and whose human experience Ammon attempts to understand, resent, and defy. 631 635 653

Story Role / Major Arcs

Clone Conflict and the Fate Hermit Society

An Ammon clone confronts Integra, Puthis, and Pallez aboard a ship. It steals thoughts, abilities, and distance, but Pallez’s lightning forces it to steal damage simply to survive. The clone’s inability to steal effectively causes Pallez to suspect that it is abnormal or fraudulent. 324 325

Later, the original Ammon encounters Sno in the Fate Hermit Society’s treasure vault. Sno’s imitation of Ammon, including the monocle and altered identity, causes Ammon to question whether he is confronting his own main body or an unknown avatar. Sno ultimately tricks him into retreating by invoking the threat of Pallez. 479

The Orphanage Escape

Reduced to a powerless child, Ammon begins in an orphanage on ancient Earth. He initially isolates himself, then joins activities after deciding that his condition is a challenge from his father. He studies the orphanage’s routines and security gaps before escaping on New Year’s Eve. 631 632

Outside, hunger drives him toward theft. Mistaken for a pickpocket by gang members, he deceives them into taking him in temporarily by posing as a trained runner and offering stolen phones as payment. 632

Human Trafficking Ordeal

After killing the gang members who abused him, Ammon is abducted by Sister Qiong and A Liang. Bound, drugged, and threatened with mutilation or sale, he experiences genuine panic for the first time. 633 634 635

He loosens his restraints, studies the hideout, subtly disturbs his captors’ sense of security, and repeatedly searches for an escape opportunity. After buyers reject him because of his dark circles, he picks his lock, escapes, incapacitates A Liang, and disappears. Police later find the traffickers’ bodies and connect the killings to a child suspect. 639 643 644 645

Li Anbang’s Guardianship

Police apprehend Ammon near a station after he mistakenly approaches it to deter presumed criminal pursuers. Unable to prosecute or safely release a seven-year-old with his skills, Li Anbang takes him home and decides to guide him. 647 648

Over two months, Ammon learns from kindergarten primers, mythology, and the internet. He grows attached to Li Anbang while fearing that this attachment means he is being assimilated into ordinary human life. 649 650 651

Escape Attempts and Moral Change

Ammon builds a signal jammer and escapes police surveillance, traveling through rural areas while planning eventual passage toward the Middle East, Southeast Asia, or South America. Unaware that the police are monitoring him remotely, he endures exhaustion, steals to fund travel, and attempts to live independently. 652 653 654 657

When another human trafficker targets him, Ammon initially considers killing her. Remembering Li Anbang’s influence, he instead knocks her unconscious, ties her up, reports her to the police, and leaves without revealing himself. 656 657

He is eventually intercepted near the border and returned to Li Anbang’s care. Forced into elementary school, he remains suspicious of everyone around him and continues plotting escapes. Seven years after arriving in this world, he is twelve years old and preparing his seventh attempt. 658 659
