The five Elders, together with their families and some clansmen attached to their branches, planned to take advantage of the night to kill Minato Namikaze and seize the position of Hokage for the Uchiha Clan.
This plan involved nearly one-third of the Uchiha clansmen, around two to three hundred people in total. It was an enormous number.
The Uchiha Clan had only nearly a thousand members in total. If they truly succeeded, the Uchiha Clan's reputation would become utterly foul not only in Konoha, but throughout the Shinobi World.
