Orochimaru's Discovery

Orochimaru licked his lips. He did not understand what had happened to Shimura Danzō.

But he knew it had something to do with that phone... no, with the person behind it.

"Fine. Since you're so resolute, have Root keep capturing Mountain Bandits for me. If the experiment is to succeed completely, these Test Subjects are nowhere near enough."

Shimura Danzō had previously been very supportive of Orochimaru's experiments. He believed they were the means by which he could greatly increase his strength and ascend to the position of Hokage.

But now, it seemed he had a better method, while there was no telling when Orochimaru's experiments would succeed.

The test subjects consumed during that time would require enormous amounts of manpower and resources.

He was already beginning to feel that it was not worth it.

"Konoha's economy is having problems now, and the funds allocated to Root have been greatly reduced. You must produce results as soon as possible."

Orochimaru looked coldly at Shimura Danzō. He could clearly sense that Shimura Danzō's mind was no longer on the experiments.

However, Orochimaru did not think much of it.

The two of them had never been in a subordinate relationship. They were partners.

If one day Shimura Danzō truly no longer intended to work with him,

then they could simply part ways amicably. Orochimaru himself had the ability to continue researching the Hashirama Cells.

"Results will come soon. Just wait and see."

After saying that, Orochimaru turned and left, while Shimura Danzō showed no reaction.

Orochimaru had indeed achieved some results—Yamato, who possessed Wood Release.

But Hiruzen Sarutobi had discovered him and recruited him into the Anbu.

That had undoubtedly dealt Shimura Danzō a tremendous loss.

Root had invested so many resources and finally cultivated a ninja capable of using Wood Release.
