Ch. 261Hermione the Clever One

Luan prepared to secretly send Norbert away with Hagrid, but Hermione discovered his plan and insisted on accompanying him. After Luan vanished with Norbert, Hermione and Hagrid waited for his return, unsure how he had left.

  • Luan received Professor Sprout's thanks and safety warning, then Hermione questioned him about Hagrid and Norbert.
  • Hermione secretly watched Luan all day and caught him leaving the Common Room at night, then persuaded him to let her come along.
  • Luan and Hermione reached Hagrid's Hut, where Hagrid showed them supplies packed into Luan's enchanted suitcase and tearfully said goodbye to Norbert.
  • After midnight, Luan left with Norbert, Zhizhi, and Bouncing, vanishing from his chair before Hermione and Hagrid could see how he had done it.
  • Hagrid guessed that Luan had Apparated from the Forbidden Forest, while Hermione waited anxiously for him to return.

Ch. 262Ancestor Spirit

Luan brought Little Fire Dragon to Star Ember Island, where its rapidly growing fire breath caused several small fires and amazed the island’s residents. After seeing Luan’s magic and the dragon’s arrival, Star Radiance Great Shaman asked whether Luan could communicate with the Ancestor Spirit.

  • Luan discovered that Little Fire Dragon had grown taller than him and could breathe a powerful stream of fire, then used the Freezing Charm to put out the fire it started in his room.
  • Luan let Bouncing take Little Fire Dragon outside to explore, and Zalan met the dragon and learned that Luan had named it Norbert.
  • Little Fire Dragon drew a crowd in the square, where its flames set a tree alight and Luan extinguished the blaze with water summoned from a nearby pool.
  • The Great Shamans arrived to see Little Fire Dragon, and Star Radiance Great Shaman asked Luan if he could communicate with the Ancestor Spirit.

Ch. 263A Wizard Comes Visiting

Luan gained the Tribal Wizards’ trust as the High Priest’s successor and set out with Shaman Lu to prepare a volcanic home for Norbert. While Luan was away, the Great Shamans met Federal Spellcasters led by General Layton Gavin, who came to investigate a Menila Empire Court Mage and learned that Luan had petrified and imprisoned him.

  • Star Radiance Great Shaman and Spirit Tree Great Shaman accepted Luan as the successor of an ancient High Priest, and the wizards admired Norbert.
  • Luan explained that Norbert’s fire breath was slightly toxic and would grow powerful within a year, then agreed to find it a home near the Spirit Tree Tribe’s dormant volcano.
  • Luan and Shaman Lu flew toward the volcano, while a harbor wizard reported that Federal Spellcasters had arrived to visit the island.
  • General Layton Gavin and Navy Major General Dylan Taft met the three Great Shamans, and Gavin asked why a Menila Empire Court Mage had come to Star Ember Island.
  • The Great Shamans told Gavin that Luan had petrified the Court Mage and imprisoned him in the dungeon, shocking Dylan Taft.

Ch. 264Why the War Ended

Layton Gavin and Vice Admiral Dylan learned that the Tribal Wizards had captured a two-star Grand Court Mage, then discovered that one of them could fly on a broom. Layton demanded to meet the High Priest, while the revelation of flying magic left him furious that the Federation had not been informed.

  • Vice Admiral Dylan doubted Great Shaman Hailan’s claim that the tribe had captured a two-star Grand Court Mage, but Layton Gavin recognized the account as credible.
  • Layton asked to meet the tribe’s High Priest, and Star Radiance Great Shaman agreed to summon him.
  • Star Radiance Great Shaman sent Shaman Han to Central Volcano on a flying broom to fetch the High Priest.
  • Vice Admiral Dylan reacted with shock when Shaman Han flew away, and Layton crushed his teacup and demanded to know why the Federation had not been told about flying magic.

Ch. 265The Court Mage's Purpose

General Layton Gavin learned that the Tribal Wizards possessed flight magic and saw their young fire dragon, which he believed could shift the balance of the war. The chapter ended as three wizards flew in after Great Shaman Hailan confiscated the children’s food.

  • Shaman Han flew away on a broomstick, astonishing General Layton Gavin and Vice Admiral Dylan.
  • Layton questioned Dylan about the Tribal Wizards’ flight magic and decided the Federation had to obtain it.
  • A fire broke out, and Great Shaman Hailan extinguished it with a summoned wave.
  • Layton and Dylan saw Little Fire Dragon roasting food with its breath and realized its potential as a weapon in the war.
  • Great Shaman Hailan scolded the children for making Little Fire Dragon roast their food and collected the food from them.
  • Three wizards flew in from the distant sky.

Ch. 266Old Friends Reunited

Luan welcomed General Layton Gavin and Vice Admiral Dylan to Star Ember Island, where they sought a partnership and tried to acquire Little Fire Dragon. Zalan reunited with Layton, but Luan refused to trade the dragon, leaving Layton to propose renting it instead.

  • Luan warned Little Fire Dragon not to breathe fire on people, houses, or trees, then welcomed the Federation visitors to Star Ember Island.
  • Layton proposed cooperation with the Tribal Wizards, while Luan described Little Fire Dragon's needs and Great Shaman Hailan objected when Vice Admiral Dylan offered to take responsibility for raising it.
  • Zalan arrived and reunited with Layton, who invited him to return to Jinglan City, but Zalan said he preferred his life on Star Ember Island and stood by Luan.
  • Layton asked Luan to reconsider exchanging Little Fire Dragon, but Luan refused because he would not treat the dragon as merchandise.
  • Layton proposed renting Little Fire Dragon and offered Federation help against the Unbelievers in the Vena Islands.

Ch. 267An Unexpected Letter of Distress

Luan refused to trade the Little Fire Dragon, but learned that the Unbelievers had been weakened after losing a battle on Aurem Island. When Captain Gould was imprisoned on Andros Island, Luan decided to lead the Tribal Wizards against the Unbelievers, while General Layton Gavin agreed to provide intelligence.

  • Layton Gavin and Vice Admiral Dylan offered to help the Tribal Wizards fight the Unbelievers in exchange for the Little Fire Dragon, but Luan and the Great Shamans rejected their terms.
  • Luan learned that the Unbelievers had suffered severe losses and retreated to Andros Island.
  • First Mate Karen brought Luan a blood-written letter saying Captain Gould was imprisoned in Moer City Prison on Andros Island and sentenced to hanging.
  • Karen explained that Gould had joined the Outer God Cult after encountering its preaching and was arrested when the island's soldiers cracked down on the cult.
  • Luan declared that the Tribal Wizards would destroy the Unbelievers, and Layton Gavin agreed to provide intelligence.
  • Layton Gavin and Vice Admiral Dylan stayed on Star Ember Island, gave Luan information about the Unbelievers, and were invited to observe the Tribal Wizards' battle preparations.

Ch. 268Battle Arrangements

Luan used intelligence about the weakened Unbelievers to plan a surprise assault on Andros Island, despite Vice Admiral Dylan’s doubts about the Tribal Wizards’ small force. Layton defended Luan’s strategy and revealed that Zalan’s battle-commanding ability rivaled his own.

  • Luan realized the Unbelievers had only nineteen members left and two senior members, though the Spellcasters’ intelligence had not tracked their losses.
  • Luan and the three Great Shamans agreed to attack Andros Island, with Great Shaman Hailan accompanying him and the other Great Shamans staying behind.
  • The Tribal Wizards selected twelve experienced wizards and prepared three ships and five hundred tribal warriors for the expedition.
  • Luan ordered the force to depart the next morning and kept Zalan behind to review the battle arrangements.
  • Dylan questioned whether the Tribal Wizards could defeat the Unbelievers, but Layton insisted Luan’s plan was appropriate and praised Zalan’s command ability.

Ch. 269Excellent Bloodline

Luan led the tribal wizards from Star Ember Island toward Andros Island to confront the Unbelievers and rescue Gould. After scouting Moer City, he discovered a crowd gathered around ten prisoners and recognized someone among them.

  • Luan gave the tribal wizards a pre-battle speech while Layton and Vice Admiral Dylan wondered about the island’s unusually high number of gifted children.
  • Layton assessed the tribal wizards’ ranks and suspected that Luan was hiding a secret behind the tribe’s surprising strength.
  • The fleet sailed toward Andros Island, where Luan distributed Spore Powder and flying brooms and assigned the wizards their targets.
  • Luan flew ahead to scout Moer City, where Gould was reportedly being held, and found ten wounded prisoners tied to stakes outside the city.
  • Luan heard the crowd accuse the prisoners of worshipping an Evil God and recognized a familiar figure among them.

Ch. 270Sacred Revelation Divine Son Gospel Society

Luan learned how the Sacred Revelation Divine Son Gospel Society had grown into a resistance movement on the Vena Islands and had been branded the Evil God Cult by the Unbelievers. He rescued its prisoners from execution, reunited with Gould, and confirmed to the followers that he was the Divine Son shown in their carving.

  • Luan learned that the Unbelievers had oppressed the Vena Islands and slandered the Sacred Revelation Divine Son Gospel Society as the Evil God Cult.
  • As the prisoners faced execution on Andros Island, Luan snapped their nooses and summoned a fierce wind, convincing the crowd that the Divine Son had appeared.
  • Luan defeated the Unbeliever and his soldiers, disarmed them, and petrified the executioner before freeing the prisoners.
  • Luan recognized Gould, who explained how the Unbelievers had seized his ship, captured his crew, and led to his arrest.
  • An elderly Gospel Society follower showed Luan a carving of the Divine Son, and Luan confirmed that it depicted him.

Ch. 271Magic Punishments

Luan learned that the Unbelievers had abducted children and experimented on them, then helped the islanders and Tribal Wizards seize Moer City. After Shaman Lu tortured a captured Unbeliever into revealing the enemy’s positions, Luan planned a coordinated assault across Andros Island, with Corinburg and the Molten Scale Sea Serpent as the main challenges.

  • Luan heard Evangelical Church followers explain that the Unbelievers had abducted children through the Shadow Trial and used them in experiments, then ordered them to arm themselves and rescue prisoners in Moer City.
  • Luan handed captured Unbelievers to Shaman Lu, joined Zalan and the Tribal Wizards, and helped take control of Moer City within an hour.
  • Shaman Lu brought a captured Unbeliever, marked by five brutal punishments, before Luan, the tribal leaders, Vice Admiral Dylan, and Layton; Luan removed the spell sealing the prisoner’s voice.
  • The tortured Unbeliever revealed the Unbelievers’ forces and their secret experiments, including more than a thousand prisoners and over three hundred children at Corinburg.
  • Luan assigned three shamans to seize Anato City, Basio City, and Xahir Fortress, while he and Great Shaman Hailan prepared to attack Corinburg and confront the Molten Scale Sea Serpent.

Ch. 272Freezing Charm Trap

Luan and the Tribal Wizards devised a trap to kill the Molten Scale Sea Serpent, using restraints and Ice Magic to exploit its weakness. Luan lured the enraged serpent toward the prepared pool, where the group stood ready to spring the trap.

  • Luan learned that Guy Cooper and another high-ranking Unbeliever were in Corinburg, and that the Molten Scale Sea Serpent was vulnerable to Ice Magic.
  • Luan and the Tribal Wizards planned to lure the serpent into a frigid pool and restrain it while they froze it; Vice Admiral Dylan defied Layton and joined their plan with his Ice Magic.
  • The wizards traveled to the pool before dawn and prepared their trap while Luan flew toward Corinburg.
  • Luan scattered the remains of the serpent’s offspring near the castle, drawing the Molten Scale Sea Serpent out in a furious pursuit.
  • Luan led the serpent to the pool and called for the others to get ready.

Ch. 273Sea Serpent Mutation

Luan and the tribal wizards tried to trap the Molten Scale Sea Serpent, but it broke free and chased him into a valley. Luan used Sectumsempra and his modified Growth Magic to wound and restrain it, driving it toward Corinburg as Great Shaman Hailan arrived.

  • Luan lured the Molten Scale Sea Serpent into the Cold Pond, where the tribal wizards ensnared it with roots while Great Shaman Hailan forced it underwater with a wave.
  • Luan and Vice Admiral Dylan froze the pond, but the serpent broke the plant restraints, breathed flames at the wizards, and fixed its attention on Luan.
  • Luan fled toward a nearby valley and tested spells against the serpent, discovering that Sectumsempra tore scales from its head and wounded its body.
  • Luan used his modified Growth Magic to make the Wire Thorns roots burrow into the serpent and rapidly spread across its body.
  • The wounded serpent fled toward Corinburg as Luan pursued it with more spells, and Great Shaman Hailan arrived to find Luan driving it along like livestock.

Ch. 274Breaking Through the Ice

Luan returned unharmed and drove the Molten Scale Sea Serpent back to the pool, where the Tribal Wizards and Spellcasters worked together to freeze it. He then attacked the serpent’s eye through the ice, leaving its fate unresolved.

  • The Tribal Wizards panicked when the Molten Scale Sea Serpent returned without Luan, and Zalan rushed toward it while Layton tended to Vice Admiral Dylan.
  • Zalan spotted Luan attacking the serpent from his broomstick, and the Tribal Wizards realized he had turned the fight in their favor.
  • Luan forced the serpent away from the castle and back toward the pool while the Wire Thorns weakened and restrained it.
  • Great Shaman Hailan drove the serpent into the pool with the Tide Summoning Technique, and Luan, Vice Admiral Dylan, and Layton froze it inside the ice.
  • Luan fired repeated Sectumsempra spells through the ice and pierced the Molten Scale Sea Serpent’s eye.

Ch. 275Taking Stock of the Spoils

After Luan and the tribal wizards killed the Molten Scale Sea Serpent, they salvaged its magical remains and prepared for a battle against the Unbelievers. Luan left the wounded spellcasters in Shaman Lu’s care, where Vice Admiral Dylan received an alarming herbal treatment.

  • Luan had the tribal warriors haul up and dissect the Molten Scale Sea Serpent, preserving its scales, skin, bones, gallbladder, fangs, and blood for magical use.
  • Lang returned after the battle and lamented missing the fight, while Luan told him they would face the Unbelievers the next day.
  • Luan gave Vice Admiral Dylan and Layton enough serpent scales for two sets of armor and urged them to take potions for their injuries.
  • Shaman Lu diagnosed Dylan with eleven broken bones, displaced organs, and five wounds, and found that Layton’s arm had been set incorrectly.
  • Shaman Lu reset Layton’s arm and treated Dylan by planting an herb seed in his body, leaving him terrified and determined never to attack Star Ember Island again.

Ch. 276Beneath the Red Mist

Vice Admiral Dylan and Layton recovered from their wounds after using Luan’s potion, but Layton worried that the Tribal Wizards could become a threat to the Federation. As the Tribal Wizards prepared to attack Corinburg, they learned that a strange red mist had appeared around the city, and Luan called for them to investigate it before advancing.

  • Vice Admiral Dylan discovered that his wounds had healed overnight, while Layton worried that Luan’s powerful potion could give the Tribal Wizards a major advantage.
  • Dylan reassured Layton that the Federation was stronger than the Tribal Wizards, but Layton compared the situation to the Federation’s past war against the stronger Menila Empire.
  • Luan welcomed Dylan and Layton to the battle meeting, where Dylan praised the potion and learned that Luan considered it low-grade.
  • Zalan reported that Corinburg held seventeen Wizards, three thousand soldiers, cannons, modified monsters, a turtle-type magical creature, and a red mist that had swallowed scouts.
  • The Tribal Wizards discussed battle deployments as thirty thousand islanders and troops gathered outside Corinburg, and Luan ordered them to find out what the Unbelievers were doing beneath the red mist.

Ch. 277Save Me! Save Me!

Luan led the army toward Corinburg, where the Red Mist concealed monsters and enemy forces. After the wizards thinned the fog and the battle began, Luan found a Black Robe Wizard brewing the mist and attacked him, only to discover someone else inside the enormous cauldron.

  • Layton watched the soldiers place their faith in Luan as the army reached Corinburg and found its approach shrouded in Red Mist.
  • Luan ordered the Tribal Wizards to thin the fog with wind magic, revealing monsters, hooded figures, and the castle defenses.
  • Luan assigned the wizards and soldiers their targets, then flew toward the castle’s center while Lang and Lu destroyed the cannons.
  • Luan found a Black Robe Wizard brewing a bloody potion beside a gigantic sea turtle and knocked the turtle out with Spore Powder.
  • Luan’s Thunderclap Explosion shattered the Black Robe Wizard’s magical robe, and Lang and Lu joined Luan as the enemy shouted for someone to save him.
  • Luan followed the Black Robe Wizard’s gaze toward the enormous cauldron, where someone else appeared to be hiding.

Ch. 278The True Trump Card

Luan, Lang, and Lu fought the Unbelievers’ leader after the Black Robe Wizard summoned a powerful Blood-colored Monster from the Blood Cocoon. Luan was overwhelmed by the monster’s bat swarm and mind-confusing spell, leaving him losing control in midair.

  • Luan’s Sectumsempra spells failed to harm the Blood Cocoon, but he and Lang shattered the Black Robe Wizard’s shield with a barrage of spells.
  • The Blood Cocoon unfolded into a Blood-colored Monster, which revealed that it was the Black Robe Wizard’s twin brother and the leader of the Unbelievers.
  • Lu flew down to fight the Black Robe Wizard while Luan and Lang faced the Blood Bat, whose scales deflected their attacks and whose roar disoriented them.
  • Luan and Lang kept their distance on broomsticks as the Blood Bat fired sound waves, then summoned a vast swarm of bats to attack them.
  • Luan used his bone whistle and Beast Dispelling Charm to disrupt the bat swarm, but the Blood Bat drove the bats back into a frenzy and ambushed him from the mist.
  • The Blood Bat trapped Luan between its attack and a wall of bats, then cast a mind-confusing spell that blurred Luan’s consciousness and made him lose control of his broomstick.

Ch. 279Mirror Image Reappears

As Memory Recall Magic protected Luan from being swallowed by the blood mist, he awoke in a nightmarish mirror image of the Crimson Moon scene from the Mirror of Erised. He found a cursed Great Willow Tree that seemed to be the key to escaping, but its dark magic began pouring into him as the battlefield outside continued to fall to the Unbelievers.

  • Memory Recall Magic shielded Luan's consciousness, and he awoke in a silent forest beneath a Crimson Moon with a black crack in it.
  • Luan found a crazed Thestral eating its companion, escaped its attack using Dumbledore's Invisibility Cloak, and realized he had no wand or other belongings.
  • Luan returned to the path and recognized a black Great Willow Tree as part of the mirror image, suspecting it could help him leave the strange world.
  • Luan touched the willow tree and became trapped as its evil magical energy flooded into him, reviving the tree.
  • The awakened Thestral lunged at Luan, but a green willow branch flung it away while Luan continued absorbing the tree's magic.
  • Outside, the Unbelievers gained the advantage as a vast swarm of bats joined the battle.

Ch. 280Victory at Last

Luan woke from the Blood-colored Monster’s Blood Gaze and defeated it, causing the blood mist to vanish and turning the battle in the islanders’ favor. The Unbelievers’ forces collapsed, while the bats regained their senses and Luan examined the mysterious Dark Magic energy still raging in his mind.

  • The blood mist empowered the Unbelievers, drove the monsters and soldiers into a frenzy, and left the tribal army struggling as Dylan and Layton considered retreating.
  • The Blood-colored Monster trapped Lang and Lu in a swarm of bats, took Luan’s Old Willow Wand and broom, and threatened to use their blood for its potion.
  • Luan woke and the Old Willow Wand sprouted branches that bound the Blood-colored Monster, then Luan struck it with Sectumsempra.
  • The enemy forces lost their unnatural strength as the blood mist dissipated, and Zalan rallied the islanders and tribal soldiers to counterattack.
  • Lang blasted the Black Robe Wizard while the Blood-colored Monster fell, and the bats regained their senses and settled around the castle.
  • Luan stood on the castle battlefield and observed the mysterious Dark Magic energy still raging through his mind.
