"Boss." Yue Yangchun called out to Long Fei.
"Second Lieutenant Yue, what is it?"
Yue Yangchun scratched his head. He wanted to say something, but the words would not come out.
"Second Lieutenant Yue, if there's something you want to say, just say it."
"Uh, it's like this. It's hard to explain, hard to describe. During the battle, I suddenly sensed something from you, Boss. It was a feeling I can't put into words."
Long Fei raised an eyebrow and looked at Yue Yangchun. Could this kid have the potential to become a Newtype?
Long Fei probed, "Did you have a feeling that you could call out to me directly through your senses?"
"Yeah, it seemed like that, but..." Yue Yangchun did not know how to describe it.
"You don't know how to call out to me, right?"
"Yes, yes, that's exactly it."
"Hey, Old Fei, what were you two just talking about? I didn't understand a single word." Li Xiucheng landed beside them and asked.
"Nothing much. This kid might have Newtype abilities like mine."
"Newtype? What's a Newtype?" Li Xiucheng asked with a puzzled expression.
Yue Yangchun was curious as well. It was his first time hearing the term.
"Tsk, how should I put it? Hmm..." Long Fei snapped his fingers and explained, "Put simply, they're an evolved type among humanity."
Yue Yangchun asked worriedly, "Then I'm still human, right, Boss?"
"Of course you are. Newtypes are simply an evolved type among humans, with a few more abilities than ordinary people."
"Old Fei, simply put, Newtypes are like highly intelligent individuals among humans." Li Xiucheng made an analogy.
"You could put it that way, though Newtypes are not necessarily intelligent. What they possess is powerful mental strength, spatial perception, a sharp sense of danger, strong adaptability, and so on."
"Old Fei, when did you start researching some Newtype theory?" Li Xiucheng asked curiously.
Long Fei could not tell him that he had transmigrated here, but he had long since thought of how to answer that question.
"Humanity has been in space for so many years. We built space colonies, and people emigrated to Mars and Jupiter. Although those two places have not been in contact with our Earth Sphere and Colony Sphere for quite some time, think about it. Humanity has been in space for so many years; it's impossible for no evolved type to have emerged. I spent some time researching the possibility that humans might develop certain abilities, and I just discovered that I have Newtype potential. It closely matches my theories. Looks like my research wasn't in vain."
"Then could I possibly be a Newtype too?" Li Xiucheng pointed at his own nose.
"I don't know, but it's possible. As for how to awaken that potential, I don't have a clue either. I only awakened my Newtype potential by accident during this battle."
Just as Long Fei finished speaking, a mercenary approached him with a tablet and informed him that the Evil Fang Pirate Group's supplies had been inventoried.
"Mm, I'd like to go say hello to that guy."
"Yes, Boss. This way, please."
The mercenary led his boss onward.
Long Fei arrived at the plaza. All the mercenaries at the scene put down their work and saluted him.
"Long Fei, Long Fei." A voice as clear as silver bells rang out from among the hostages.
Long Fei could not help frowning. The voice sounded oddly familiar. He looked toward it and saw a woman with slightly disheveled hair and a somewhat dirty face, yet none of it could conceal her beauty.
Long Fei narrowed his eyes at the woman for a while. She looked very familiar.
"Bring that woman over."
The mercenary brought the woman before him.
"You are..." Long Fei still could not recognize her.
"Oh my, you don't recognize your old classmate? I'm Shi Tingfen, your classmate for all three years of university."
Only then did Long Fei remember that the woman before him truly had been his classmate for all three years of university, and the beauty of their class.
Long Fei asked Shi Tingfen, "How did you get captured by this Pirate Group?"
"I was just traveling when the passenger ship I was on was hijacked and taken away by them."
"I see." Long Fei waved to a mercenary in the distance, signaling him over. "Take her to the lounge and arrange a room for her."
"Yes, Boss."
Shi Tingfen's eyes widened as she stared at Long Fei in disbelief. When she first saw the mercenaries saluting him, she thought Long Fei was merely their commander. She had not expected him to be the owner of the mercenary group.
Then, Long Fei came before the one-eyed captain.
"A pleasure to meet you, Captain Fales." Long Fei extended his right hand in greeting.
Though Fales had become a homeless dog, after weathering countless storms over the years, he still maintained the bearing he ought to have. He stood and shook Long Fei's hand.
"I never expected the renowned owner of the Skywing Mercenary Group to be such a young man."
"You flatter me."
"I would like to ask Boss Long something. The Evil Fang Pirate Group has never provoked you, so why did you wipe out my Pirate Group?"
"Well, it was for a promise. I promised someone working for me that I would grant him one request, and his request was for me to wipe out the Evil Fang Pirate Group."
"So it was for a promise. May I meet that person?"
Long Fei found an excuse to refuse. "I'm sorry, he isn't here."
"Then may I make a request of Boss Long?"
"Captain Fales, tell me first. If it's within my power, I'll agree to your request."
"I want to know who betrayed me."
Long Fei pointed with his chin at a brown-haired man wearing glasses. The brown-haired man lowered his head in shame.
"Why? I've always treated you well. Why did you betray me?" Fales asked his trusted subordinate. He desperately wanted to know why the subordinate he trusted had betrayed him.
"Captain Fales, the main reason he betrayed you was that we took his wife and children hostage. We had his weakness in our grasp, so he had no choice but to tell us everything we wanted to know." After speaking, Long Fei took out a photograph and showed it to Fales.
The photograph showed Fales posing in front of a house with a beautiful middle-aged woman and two children.
"You... you... Don't do anything reckless! Whatever you want, take it out on me. They're innocent!" Fales said excitedly.
"Don't be nervous. Relax, Captain Fales. As long as you do one thing, not only will I spare your life, I can even reunite you with your family so you can live together as a loving family."
Fales took a deep breath and calmed himself before asking, "What do you want me to do?"
Long Fei gestured to the mercenary behind him.
The mercenary took out a tablet and placed it before Fales.
"Transfer the money from all your bank accounts into an account I designate. Don't worry, I'm not asking you to transfer everything. You may keep ten percent in each account. Use the rest to live well with your family. Can you do that?"
"Fine. I hope Boss Long is a man who keeps his promises." Without hesitation, Fales transferred most of the money from all his bank accounts into the designated account.
Long Fei looked at Fales's trusted subordinates behind him and said, "You can choose to do as your captain did and transfer most of the money in your bank accounts into the account I designate, or you can keep your money and lose your lives."
