"Y-you..." Professor Frolov asked in a low voice. "Your research group specializes in this?"
"You'll understand once we get there." Mitchell Megan smiled. "At first, we were just a research group funded by some filthy rich tycoon. But as our research into everything deepened, that tycoon gradually revealed his true face."
"And that is?" Professor Frolov asked, confused.
"We belong to a Shadow Society." Mitchell Megan's face was flushed as she spoke, excited and thrilled.
"A Shadow Society?" Professor Frolov frowned.
He was no little girl like Mitchell Megan.
Hallelujah Frolov was fifty-four this year. Born in 1942, he had lived through the victory in World War II and the Cold War, and he knew all manner of conspiracy theories inside out.
Though at his age, he knew most conspiracy theories were utter nonsense, he believed some of them were real.
He knew there were many unknown organizations and forces in the world, operating behind the scenes, manipulating the course of the world and wielding secret powers.
"Yes, Professor. The Shadow Society we belong to is a mysterious organization," Mitchell Megan confessed. "Our research group is merely a channel for contact with surface human society."
"The Illuminati?" Professor Frolov lowered his voice.
"What is the Illuminati?" Mitchell Megan was taken aback instead.
"Not the Illuminati?" Professor Frolov was stunned by her response. "Then what exactly do you study? Why hide your true identities?"
"This is all the information we can disclose at present. Our current research concerns all kinds of supernatural phenomena and mysterious forces occurring around the world. Through documents left behind by our predecessors and folk legends, we search for mysterious places and populations of mysterious creatures that still exist today."
"Have you made any concrete discoveries?" Professor Frolov asked.
"Unknown Kadath," Mitchell Megan said calmly.
"Unknown... Kadath?"
