The banshee's shrill, twisted wail spread outward from her floating body like a translucent boundary, sweeping across the cavern at a speed no ordinary adventurer could react to.

To the bloodstained pebbles scattered across the ground and the broken, crudely made clubs, that scream was no different from the adventurers' roars or the Goblins' cries during the battle.

The sound wave swept over them. The lifeless debris lay where it had been, unchanged.

The living creatures in the cavern, however, suffered a very different fate.

Closest to the Banshee was the dying Bear Goblin. Ganke's attack had left it gravely wounded, sprawled weakly on the cold ground with its chest caved in. Blood spilled from its mouth as it struggled to breathe.

When the Banshee's wail pierced its ears, the death it had been awaiting finally came.

Already gravely wounded, it had no chance of passing its saving throw. Even its final struggle was feeble and futile. Its back arched sharply like a shrimp's, and a short, pained shriek escaped its blood-filled mouth. Its clouded eyes contracted, then lost focus.

As though the wail had torn its soul away, its body slammed back to the ground. Its head bounced twice, then went still.

Next came the Goblins gathered around the Bear Goblin.

These scrawny Green-skinned Goblins had even weaker constitutions than ordinary humans, and none enjoyed the luck of divine favor. When the Banshee's scream swept over them, not one passed its saving throw.

Their frenzied cries stopped abruptly. Some clapped both hands over their ears and convulsed on their knees; others curled into balls, eyes rolling back; still others fell straight to the ground, never to wake again.

Within two seconds, only their twisted corpses remained.
