The two remaining members of the Iron Rock Shield Squad reacted far less intensely to Haoge's death than they had when Agu was cut in half.
The reason was partly as Xia Nan had guessed. When the squad had recruited the Half-Orc Warrior, they had only treated him as expendable material.
Although years of fighting side by side had led the other members to acknowledge the Half-Orc as part of the squad and regard him as a companion,
when he truly died in battle, it merely fulfilled the expectations they had held when recruiting him.
They might feel sorrow and lament his death, but they would not become overly enraged.
On the other hand, Habik and Seli were currently barely able to look after themselves.
When their own lives were under serious threat, they naturally had no attention to spare for anyone else's survival.
To be honest, under normal circumstances, the roles of these two actually complemented each other quite well.
One was a defensive front-line Warrior carrying a heavy shield, while the other was a ranged archer who primarily used a bow.
On a conventional battlefield, with the special abilities of their Profession Levels added in, such a configuration was already enough to support a small-scale battle.
But the situation was different now.
Their enemies were the Tide Retreat Gang's thugs and Shahua Mermen, numbering more than ten, among them many low-level Profession holders and Elite Murloc individuals.
At the start of the battle, Habik could still use his Taunt-type combat skill to create space for Seli to attack from the rear.
But as more and more Mermen came shrieking forward and one thug after another surrounded him with weapons raised,
the disadvantages of their team configuration became fully apparent.
They lacked a close-combat attacker to fill the gap
