Heading southeast along Steel Street, Ian and the others soon descended Visenya's Hill. After crossing Fishmonger's Square, they entered River Road.

To the east, they could see the Red Keep atop Aegon's High Hill, a massive, forbidding fortress rising beside Blackwater Bay, built entirely of pale red stone. House Baratheon's golden crowned stag banner flew high above its gatehouse.

To the south stood River Gate, also known as Mud Gate. King's Landing's harbor on Blackwater Bay lay beyond it.

Turncoat Knight Gransen, who had arrived on River Road half a day ahead of Ian's group, had rented a large mansion here.

This had been Ian's order. He planned to establish his own safe zone in King's Landing as far from Flea Street as possible.

That would keep them away from the players lurking in Flea Bottom, while also making it easier for Ian to escape by ship.

By the time Ian reached the mansion, Ser Glason had already recalled Bronn from the team led by Black Falcon Dorian, who had been operating out of another inn near the Red Keep.
