Lingering Fear

Ye Lan looked at Danzo, who was still shaken, and said, "Don't worry. Even if you disrespected me, you've received the punishment you deserved. I told you, I won't kill you. Don't be afraid."

Danzo glared fiercely at Ye Lan without saying a word.

At the same time, however, he quietly breathed a sigh of relief. He had silently abducted Ye Lan and subjected him to brutal interrogation the moment he arrived. Now that Ye Lan was willing to spare him and promised not to kill him, there could be no better outcome.

Because he now fully believed that if Ye Lan wanted to kill him, it would be effortless.

Ye Lan noticed Danzo's little movement and smiled. "My promise not to kill you doesn't mean I'll simply let you go. I have every reason to kill you for everything you did to me today, but I didn't. That doesn't mean I've forgiven you. I just want to make this clear: from now on, without my permission, you are absolutely not to let those Anbu lackeys of yours disturb me. That includes you. Because I can't be sure whether I'll really kill you all next time."

"Besides, I hate being disturbed. I might as well tell you that I'll be staying in Konoha for quite a long time from now on. I can't tell you exactly how long yet. Just make sure you explain this clearly to your lackeys: wherever I, Ye Lan, am, your Anbu people must keep their distance. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Lan's gaze suddenly turned icy. A thin sheen of cold sweat immediately appeared on Danzo's forehead and palms. Though unwilling, he slowly nodded.

"Alright, I'm leaving. If I need your help in the future, I'll come find you."

Danzo quietly let out a breath of relief.

But after taking only a few steps, Ye Lan stopped again, turned around, and said, "Oh, right. I forgot to thank you for the Mangekyō Sharingan."

With that, Ye Lan pushed open the door and left.

Danzo let out a heavy sigh of relief.

He truly did not want to provoke that fiend again. Ye Lan's abilities were simply too monstrous. If Ye Lan had not stated that his Anbu were to keep their distance from him in the future, Danzo would have thought that Ye Lan would at least kill him.

He even fully believed that Ye Lan had the ability to wipe out every Jonin in the Anbu by himself.

By saying that, Ye Lan had effectively spared the Anbu.

Danzo looked at the doorway with lingering fear, unable to understand how he had provoked that fiend today.

Danzo slowly sat down in a nearby chair and closed his eyes. He needed to rest properly. It had been a long time since he had suffered at anyone's hands, yet tonight he had stumbled before a mere greenhorn.
