Boiled Alive

Ye Lan had used high-level Fire Release partly to test the strength of his Ninjutsu, but more importantly... to catch fish...

After floundering around in the water for so long without catching a single fish, Ye Lan was naturally frustrated. Then inspiration struck, and he came up with this not-so-brilliant method—a method only a loser like Ye Lan could think of: blasting fish with super-intense flames...

Still, although Ye Lan was exhausted, the results seemed pretty good.

Seeing his impressive haul, Ye Lan grinned and, in a rush of excitement, jumped back into the water.

But that jump was a disaster. The moment Ye Lan's foot touched the water, his entire foot instantly turned bright red!

Ye Lan finally remembered that, because of him, the river water nearby had long since reached temperatures no normal human body could endure!

But Ye Lan had already jumped in...

Before Ye Lan could even think, his whole body had plunged in...

"Awooo!!!!!!"

A miserable wail immediately rang out over the river...

A head finally emerged from the riverbank.

Very soon, Ye Lan had reduced more than a dozen fish to nothing but bones.

Stuffed to the brim, Ye Lan lay straight down on the ground, continuously belching.

As he lay there, waves of drowsiness washed over him.

Sure enough, the saying that you get sleepy after eating your fill was true.

Before long, Ye Lan fell into a deep sleep.

But he had not slept for long when an urgent, panicked female voice rang out: "Help!!"

Ye Lan jolted awake and sprang up from the ground.

Could this be one of those hero-saves-the-beauty scenarios?

He then sprinted toward the source of the voice.

There, he saw a beautiful young girl with delicate features and fair skin surrounded by two bald men with burly bodies and lecherous faces.

The girl had thick, long black hair, its ends loosely tied with a ribbon. She wore a light purple dress and had an exceptionally pure aura. Even Ye Lan could not help feeling moved when he saw her, let alone those two stinking baldies who clearly looked like trouble.

Her face was filled with terror as she kept crying for help. She looked pitiful and helpless, like an injured little white rabbit.
