Yao Chen was once the continent's Number One Alchemist, a peak Eighth-grade Alchemist and peak Nine-Revolutions Dou Zun. Following a conflict with an enemy, he was reduced to a remnant soul and concealed himself in the Bone Flame Ring alongside the Bone Spirit Cold Flame. His former disciple Han Feng betrayed him by colluding with the Soul Hall. 104 150

While residing in the ring worn by Xiao Yan, Yao Chen secretly dispersed Xiao Yan's Dou Qi, intending to temper the boy's character before revealing himself and accepting him as a disciple. He initially viewed Xiao Ling's examination of Xiao Yan as a test: if Xiao Ling could detect him, Yao Chen would instead follow Xiao Ling. 66 104

Xiao Ling detected the anomaly surrounding the Bone Flame Ring and forced Yao Chen to reveal himself.
