After a hard-fought battle, the final victor was the captain of Second Squad, Third Division of the ANBU, codenamed Shadow—a Jonin from the Saito Clan, a small ninja clan with an inheritance of Lightning Release ninjutsu.

Last came the most fiercely contested weapon of all: the Twin Swords Hiramekarei.
Aside from Seiji, all the other contenders came from Hidden Mist's great Kekkei Genkai clans. The participants were Hozuki Chizuru of the Hozuki Clan, Hozuki Chino's older brother; Terumi Hiroshi of the Terumi Clan, which possessed Boil Release; Fujiwara Naoki of the Meidun Fujiwara Clan; and Miyajima Kimiko of the Crystal Release Miyajima Clan.
