Ch. 521The Trap

Minato Namikaze tried to turn the battle against Yagura and retreat with Konoha’s fighters, but Yagura lured him into a sealing trap designed to counter the Flying Thunder God Technique. Minato was trapped inside the Eight Trigrams Sealing Formation as Kirigakure closed in.

  • Minato found Jiraiya severely burned and missing an arm after Yagura’s explosion.
  • Uzumaki Kana led Saito Kage, Hozuki Chizuru, and Otsutsuki Mukai onto the battlefield to attack Konoha’s fighters.
  • Minato decided Konoha should withdraw and attacked Yagura with Sage Art: Spiraling Sphere.
  • Yagura used the Isobu Great Waterfall to thwart Minato’s attacks and drive him toward a concealed trap.
  • Uzumaki Shinji and the Barrier Team and Sealing Team trapped Minato inside the Eight Trigrams Sealing Formation.

Ch. 522Yagura's Full Power

Uzumaki Shinji’s barrier trapped Minato Namikaze and disrupted his Flying Thunder God Technique, allowing Yagura to enter and unleash his complete Tailed Beast Transformation. Yagura’s relentless attacks drained Minato’s chakra, and Yagura prepared to finish the fight with a decisive blow.

  • Minato recognized the Eight Trigrams Sealing Formation but continued trying to use the Flying Thunder God Technique until he realized the barrier had nearly stopped space.
  • Uzumaki Shinji opened a gap in the barrier, and Yagura charged inside to attack Minato.
  • Yagura entered his complete Tailed Beast Transformation and unleashed a barrage of Isobu Toad Oil Bullets.
  • Minato dodged with his Body Flicker Technique and tried to counter with Sage Rasengan, but Yagura’s attacks overwhelmed his defenses and depleted his chakra.
  • Yagura gauged Minato’s speed and weakening chakra, concluded that Minato had reached his limit, and prepared a decisive attack.

Ch. 523Water Gate Severely Injured

Yagura's massive Tailed Beast Ball shattered the Eight Trigrams Sealing Formation and left Minato Namikaze near death, after which Uzumaki Shinji located and recovered him. Meanwhile, Saito Kage and Hozuki Chizuru continued overpowering Orochimaru and the badly wounded Jiraiya, while Orochimaru discovered his contract with Mansha had stopped working.

  • Yagura used Isobu to fire an enormous Tailed Beast Ball, destroying the Eight Trigrams Sealing Formation while the barrier contained the blast's aftershock.
  • Uzumaki Shinji sensed Minato Namikaze and used Adamantine Chains to drag his charred, gravely injured body back to Yagura.
  • Yagura ordered Shinji to take Minato Namikaze and the others back, telling him to have Chino treat Minato if he could be saved.
  • Saito Kage and Hozuki Chizuru relentlessly attacked Orochimaru and the one-armed Jiraiya, whose injuries left Orochimaru effectively fighting alone.
  • Orochimaru struggled to survive and discovered that his contract with Mansha no longer worked.

Ch. 524The Death of Jiraiya

Orochimaru fled after discovering he could no longer summon Mansha, leaving Jiraiya to face Saito Kage and Hozuki Chizuru alone. Jiraiya was killed, while Orochimaru was intercepted by Yagura as he tried to escape.

  • Orochimaru realized his failed summoning meant Mansha was dead and Ryūchi Cave had been attacked, so he abandoned Jiraiya and fled.
  • Saito Kage and Hozuki Chizuru stopped pursuing Orochimaru and attacked the already wounded Jiraiya.
  • Hozuki Chizuru pierced Jiraiya's abdomen with the Water Gun Technique, and Saito Kage finished him with Lightning Burial.
  • Otsutsuki Mukai defeated Shikaku Nara, Inoichi Yamanaka, and Choza Akimichi, leaving them incapacitated.
  • Uzumaki Kana tracked Orochimaru, and Yagura intercepted him less than ten kilometers from the battlefield.

Ch. 525The Death of Orochimaru

Yagura pursued Orochimaru across the desert and overwhelmed him with Three-Tails-powered attacks. He killed Orochimaru before the Sannin could complete his escape technique, leaving all six Konoha reinforcements dead.

  • Yagura cut off Orochimaru's escape with a Tailed Beast Ball and caught up to him.
  • Orochimaru unleashed Ten Thousand Snakes Constricting Formation, but Yagura swept the snakes away with Water Release: Isobu Great Waterfall.
  • Orochimaru summoned Triple Rashomon to block the flood, then fled while Yagura pursued him.
  • Yagura struck Orochimaru with an enhanced Tailed Beast Ball, blasting him out of the air and leaving him gravely wounded.
  • Yagura pierced Orochimaru's skull with the Water Fang Blade before he could finish using Orochimaru-Style Body Replacement Technique, killing him and wiping out all six Konoha reinforcements.

Ch. 526Yagura's Swelling

Yagura celebrated killing Orochimaru and bragged about it in a telegram to Seiji. Seiji ordered the campaign against Sunagakure finished before Kirigakure attacked Iwagakure, then decided to teach his boastful younger brother a lesson.

  • Uzumaki Kana confirmed Orochimaru's chakra signature had vanished, and Yagura celebrated his victory while ignoring Isobu's warning not to boast to Seiji.
  • Ken delivered a report to Seiji that Yagura's forces had wiped out Konoha's reinforcements, captured Minato Namikaze, Shikaku Nara, Inoichi Yamanaka, and Choza Akimichi, and killed Orochimaru and Jiraiya.
  • Ken reported that Sunagakure's forces were still resisting, while Rasa was suppressed and Chiyo and Ebizo were being pursued.
  • Seiji ordered Yagura to end the battle, treat surrendering Sunagakure ninja basically, and kill those who refused to surrender.
  • Seiji told Ken that Kirigakure would attack Iwagakure after the battle and the sealing of the Five-Tails, then heard Yagura's boastful message about killing Orochimaru.
  • Seiji laughed at Yagura's cheeky message and resolved to make his younger brother experience his brotherly affection.

Ch. 527Sunagakure Stripped of Its Name!

Kirigakure’s forces annihilated Sunagakure’s army, capturing Fourth Kazekage Rasa and killing Chiyo and Ebizo. After receiving news of the victory, Seiji summoned Kirigakure’s leaders to prepare for war against Iwagakure.

  • Suikazan Fuguki defeated Fourth Kazekage Rasa and captured him after exhausting his chakra.
  • Ice and Jinin Akebino destroyed Chiyo and Ebizo’s puppets, then killed Ebizo and Chiyo with Hyoton and Kabutowari.
  • Kirigakure finished its campaign against Sunagakure, leaving the Five Great Shinobi Villages reduced to four.
  • Seiji received a telegram from Angkor Fortress and summoned the Kirigakure higher-ups to plan the war against Iwagakure.
  • Seiji ordered Kirigakure to send more ninja, including Chunin, and capture as many enemy ninja as possible while protecting their own forces.

Ch. 528Target: Iwagakure!

Seiji prepared to attack Iwagakure, assigning Genji to select three thousand Chunin while planning to transport the force himself with Yomotsu Hirasaka. He also arranged for the Five-Tails to be sealed and planned to take Lord Water to the Land of Wind to secure Lord Wind’s approval for Kirigakure’s takeover.

  • Genji presided over Seiji’s meeting and selected three thousand ninja to join the attack on Iwagakure.
  • Genji privately asked Seiji how he would deploy the force, and Seiji revealed that Yomotsu Hirasaka could teleport thousands of ninja at once.
  • An Anbu reported that Nagato and Mei Terumi had entered the Land of Water and would reach the village around dusk.
  • Seiji recognized Murasaki and tasked him with telling Nagato and Mei Terumi to seal the Five-Tails into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.
  • Seiji planned to take Lord Water to the Land of Wind and make Lord Wind grant Kirigakure control of the country.

Ch. 529Seiji Arrives at Sunagakure and Konoha's Movements

Seiji returned to Angkor Fortress with Lord Water, checked on his allies and prisoners, and headed to confront Yagura in Sunagakure. Meanwhile, Hiruzen Sarutobi lost contact with Orochimaru and prepared Konoha to intervene in the Land of Wind.

  • Seiji traveled from the capital of the Land of Water to Angkor Fortress with Lord Water and was greeted by Uzumaki Kana.
  • Seiji arranged for Shennong to settle Lord Water, checked on Hozuki Chino and the wounded Hidden Mist Ninja, and visited Rasa, Minato Namikaze, and the Ino-Shika-Cho Formation trio in prison.
  • Seiji headed to see Yagura, who sensed an ominous feeling but continued overseeing Sunagakure's reconstruction; Isobu warned him that Seiji had arrived and gave Yagura away.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi discovered that his summoning contract with Orochimaru no longer worked and summoned Wolong and Fengchu to discuss the loss of contact.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi sent an Anbu squad into the Land of Wind to gather intelligence and assembled five thousand ninja to prepare for a possible deployment.

Ch. 530"Educating" Yagura

Seiji caught Yagura directing repairs in Sunagakure and took him to a separate dimension for a private beating after Yagura let slip that he considered Seiji his brother. Seiji then set out with Yagura, officials, ninja, and Lord Water to annex the Land of Wind by arranging a transfer of power.

  • Yagura froze when he heard people respectfully call Seiji Mizukage, then awkwardly tried to explain his earlier telegram.
  • Seiji teased Yagura about his telegram and pressured him until Yagura accidentally called him Brother Seiji.
  • Seiji used Yomotsu Hirasaka to take Yagura to his separate dimension and beat him before returning with him bruised and battered.
  • Seiji brought Yagura, ninja, civil officials, and Lord Water to the Land of Wind’s capital to begin annexing the country.

Ch. 531Preparations Before Making a Move

Seiji seized control of the Land of Wind’s capital, then returned to Sunagakure to plan Hidden Mist Village’s coming attack on Iwagakure. He left support teams behind to guard Sunagakure while preparing the remaining forces for a direct battle.

  • Lord Wind surrendered the Land of Wind’s capital to Seiji, who used a green Spirit Ball and the Tenseigan to bring him under control.
  • Seiji’s forces eliminated the nobles who resisted and took complete control of the capital.
  • Seiji returned to Sunagakure through Yomotsu Hirasaka to arrange deployments for the attack on Iwagakure.
  • At a war council in Angkor Fortress, Seiji assigned most combat forces and medical personnel to the campaign while leaving some medics behind to care for the wounded.
  • Seiji ordered the Sensory, Barrier, and Sealing Team ninjas to remain in Sunagakure, but kept Uzumaki Kana and Uzumaki Shinji with the attacking forces.

Ch. 532Attack!

Seiji led the Hidden Mist Forces into the Land of Earth to attack Iwagakure, while Ōnoki mobilized his forces after discovering the border garrison had vanished. Seiji also warned Yagura that Konoha had sent Anbu into the Land of Wind and authorized him to declare war if Konoha attacked.

  • Seiji transported three thousand Chunin to the outskirts of Sunagakure, formed up the Hidden Mist Ninja, and ordered them to move out against Iwagakure.
  • The Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist silently killed the Hidden Sand and Iwagakure ninja guarding the border between the Land of Wind and the Land of Earth.
  • Seiji led the Hidden Mist Forces across the border and advanced toward Iwagakure without using Yomotsu Hirasaka to launch a surprise attack.
  • Two hours after the invasion began, Iwagakure discovered it had lost contact with its border garrison, and Ōnoki ordered his forces to assemble.
  • After receiving intelligence that Konoha had sent Anbu into the Land of Wind, Seiji told Yagura to raise alerts and authorized him to declare war if Konoha attacked.

Ch. 533The Two Sides About to Engage

Ōnoki learned that Seiji and the Hidden Mist Forces were advancing toward Iwagakure, and ordered Kitsuchi to lead the village’s troops out to meet them. As the two forces moved toward a confrontation, Seiji remained unconcerned about Iwagakure’s response.

  • Iwagakure’s Sensory Team tracked Seiji and the Hidden Mist Forces after they destroyed the border garrison.
  • An Iwagakure Anbu reported to Ōnoki that the Hidden Mist Forces were less than a hundred kilometers from the village.

  • Ōnoki flew ahead to scout the Hidden Mist Forces, while Uzumaki Shinji warned Seiji that Iwagakure’s forces had set out.
  • Seiji dismissed the news, noting that the Hidden Mist Forces were about eighty kilometers from Iwagakure.

Ch. 534Seiji's Dust Release

Seiji absorbed Ōnoki’s Dust Release attack and immediately returned it with a Sage Chakra-enhanced version, narrowly missing the fleeing Tsuchikage. Ōnoki escaped, shaken and confused about how the Fourth Mizukage had learned Iwagakure’s secret technique.

  • Uzumaki Shinji warned Seiji that Ōnoki was approaching the Hidden Mist Forces from the air.
  • Ōnoki attacked the advancing force with Dust Release, but Seiji absorbed the technique with the Sealing Technique Absorption Seal.
  • Seiji copied the Dust Release and fired a Sage Art beam at Ōnoki as he fled, disintegrating his hat while narrowly missing him.
  • Ōnoki escaped at high speed and wondered how Seiji had learned Dust Release, a technique he believed only he could use.

Ch. 535The War Begins

Seiji led the Hidden Mist Forces into battle against the Hidden Stone Forces, using their superior sensory range to seize the initiative. As the chapter ended, Seiji and three swordsmen unleashed a massive Water Release, and Kitsuchi ordered the Hidden Stone Ninja to counter it.

  • Uzumaki Shinji alerted Seiji that the Hidden Stone Forces were ten kilometers away, and Seiji and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen raced ahead of the Hidden Mist Forces.
  • Uzumaki Shinji reported that the enemy was six kilometers away, while the Hidden Stone sensor ninja spotted Seiji’s group too late to prevent their advance.
  • Seiji ordered Suikazan, Jūzō, and Thousand Blades to launch a joint Water Release at the Hidden Stone Forces.
  • Kitsuchi ordered the Hidden Stone Ninja to hold their positions and form seals together to stop the oncoming flood.

Ch. 536Happy May Day!

Seiji and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist attacked the Iwagakure forces with a coordinated assault that broke through their defenses and inflicted heavy casualties. Seiji deliberately left many Iwa ninja alive, intending to use them to supply chakra to his God Tree.

  • Kitsuchi led more than a hundred Iwa ninja in raising a Great Flowing Earth Wall that stopped the tsunami unleashed by the three Ninja Swordsmen.
  • Seiji called on Saito Kage and Munashi Jinpachi to continue the attack as the Iwagakure forces recovered from the wave.
  • Saito Kage used Thunder Gate to conduct lightning through the water, destroying the earthen wall and shocking nearby Iwa ninja.
  • Munashi Jinpachi launched Exploding Tags with Burst, and Seiji redirected them through Yomotsu Hirasaka to detonate behind the shattered wall.
  • The explosions and debris wounded and killed many Iwa ninja, while Seiji spared the survivors to provide chakra to his God Tree.

Ch. 537The Death of Ōnoki (Part 1)

After Kitsuchi died in the explosion, Ōnoki attacked Seiji and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist with a rock golem, then turned his strongest Dust Release against the approaching Hidden Mist Forces. Ōnoki left the battle committed to avenging his son and leading Iwagakure to victory.

  • Ōnoki discovered that Kitsuchi’s Chakra signature had vanished and realized his son had died.
  • Ōnoki summoned a rock golem and enlarged its fist with the Rock Fist Technique, forcing Seiji and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist to retreat.

  • Ōnoki crashed through rocky terrain and sent Iwa ninja flying, leaving them severely injured but alive.

Ch. 539Ōnoki's Death (Part 2)

Seiji killed Ōnoki with Dust Release in front of the battlefield, breaking the Iwagakure troops’ morale. His Shadow Clone then abducted Han, the Five-Tails Jinchuriki, from the Iwagakure formation.

  • Seiji’s attack left Ōnoki gravely injured, and Seiji followed it with Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique.
  • The Dust Release erased Ōnoki, the Third Tsuchikage, and the ground around him before the watching troops.
  • The Hidden Mist Forces surged forward as the Iwagakure troops lost heart over Ōnoki’s death.
  • Guided by a White Zetsu Clone, Seiji’s Shadow Clone found Han among the Iwagakure troops near their entrance.
  • Seiji’s Shadow Clone opened a Space Tunnel and dragged Han into another dimension, leaving the Iwa ninja crying out for him.

Ch. 540Capturing the Five-Tails (Part 1)

Seiji’s Shadow Clone transported Han to another space and demanded the Five-Tails, prompting the Jinchuriki to fight back. Han and Kokuō joined forces against Seiji, but their struggle for survival had only just begun.

  • Han sensed that he had been transported to another space and prepared to fight.
  • Seiji’s Shadow Clone appeared and demanded that Han hand over the Five-Tails.
  • Han recognized Seiji as the Fourth Mizukage and attacked with Boil Release: Super Strength Unmatched.
