The girl slept soundly and did not cough again. The entire dungeon became exceptionally quiet. Jiang Hao sat cross-legged in meditation, and before he knew it, the night had passed.

After an unknown amount of time, the cell door opened. Two horse bandits entered carrying water buckets and flatbread. One of them shouted, "Food's here! Damn it, and I've still got to serve you lot. In a few days, I'll sell every last one of you off as slaves."

The two horse bandits came in and began handing out food and water, cursing as they did so. When they reached Jiang Hao's cell, the bandit carrying the flatbread suddenly let his hand slip, and several pieces fell to the ground.

"Hey, what's wrong with you?" asked the bandit carrying the water.

"My hand feels kind of numb. It just slipped out of my grasp," said the one with the flatbread.

"Your hand's numb? When I got up this morning, I felt numb all over too. I can't seem to muster any strength," said the one carrying water.

"Damn, did we eat something bad?"

"If we ate something bad, we'd have diarrhea. I don't have diarrhea."

"That's true."
