Shatter the Whole Mirror
Jiang Hao quickly arrived at the Management Committee offices. Heavy guards were stationed there, with several armed armored vehicles parked around the building, their missile launchers and gun barrels aimed outward. Soldiers armed to the teeth stood at the entrance in imposing mechanical exoskeletons, gripping heavy machine guns.
Before he could get close, Jiang Hao was stopped. He showed his ID, and after the soldier verified his identity card, he gave Jiang Hao a military salute.
The gesture made Jiang Hao pause slightly. He was not an officer; there had been no need for the man to salute him.
The officer said solemnly, "Mr. Jiang Hao, I am Captain Yang Fan of the Seventh Company, Second Battalion, Hangzhou Garrison, Chinese Army. Thank you for saving the entire Hangzhou Underground City, and for saving my family."
So that was why.
Jiang Hao returned the salute. "No need to thank me. I did it for my own family too."
"Mr. Jiang, Director Ding has already notified us. He is waiting for you inside. Please come in."
After a body scan and identity verification, the heavy door opened. Jiang Hao entered the building and found that it was not a luxurious office building at all. It resembled a research lab from a science fiction movie, white everywhere and brimming with technological flair.
Director Ding Lijun walked over from the side with a smile. Behind him followed a man in his forties, carrying an air of martial valor.
"Jiang Hao, let me introduce you. This is Ye Huatang, Director of Security for the Hangzhou Underground City Management Committee, responsible for security throughout the entire Underground City," Ding Lijun said.
Wasn't that basically the police commissioner?
Jiang Hao shook the man's hand. Ding Lijun continued, "Director Li died in the previous
