After a night of fierce fighting, warm daylight swept away the darkness and returned to the earth, but all that met the eye were shattered walls and ruins, with craters of every size scattered across the battlefield.
The cold wind carried heavy dew as wisps of charred smoke curled into the sky. A group of Artificial Lifeforms dispatched from the fortress spread out, using their pale arms piled with lumps of muscle either to dismantle the mangled corpses of their kind, collect the gem cores of golems, or carry back several enemy Dragon Tooth Soldier corpses to analyze their weaknesses. Following their orders, they cleaned the battlefield in an orderly fashion.
The bulkier golems, meanwhile, leveled trenches, filled craters, and served as the main force rebuilding the castle and its outer defenses.
After more than half a day of work, the battlefield, once a complete mess, had finally begun to lose some of its stench of gunpowder.
Although conditions outside the castle had improved, the atmosphere inside the hall was rather oppressive.
"So, whether we capture the enemy King, defeat all seven Servants, or seize that floating aerial fortress, we can win?"
Darnic flicked the Command Spell on his hand, a cold smile tugging at his lips.
"If that's the case, why didn't you let me pursue them? If we'd just killed that guy, wouldn't everything have been settled?!"
The man's violet eyes brimmed with displeasure as he stared at the Saintess standing to Vlad the Impaler's right, his face darkening.
