Sleeping Together Sometime!

The successive blows and questions made a sense of frustration well up within Martha.

Before activating Abraham's blood, she had merely been a village girl living with her younger sister Maria and younger brother Lazarus in Bethany. Her brother's death had allowed her to witness firsthand the miracle of the prophet Moses resurrecting him through the Lord's great power.

That prophet had even personally given her a staff, taught her the combat techniques passed down from Jacob, and hoped she would conduct herself in a manner befitting a saint.

To repay that favor and temper herself, she had undertaken a long pilgrimage. In Nairuk Town along the Rhône River, she confronted the tyrannical dragon that had plagued the people and physically persuaded it into submission. The rescued townsfolk had respectfully called her the "Saint."

Seeing the smiles on the faces of those who had been saved, Martha had taken deep pride in her faith's ability to benefit the people.

Yet this fellow's words had successfully shaken Martha, even making her vaguely question the Lord's supposedly unquestionable arrangements.

For example, why had the Lord destroyed the previous Tower of Babel, only for this thing to now require rebuilding?

For example, why had the Jews who joined the battlefield and war, clearly violating the Ten Commandments of the covenant between the prophet and the Lord, received praise instead?

For example, since the Lord had created Leviathan, why had he allowed Leviathan's child—the evil dragon she had subdued—to harm innocent people? Could that also have been the Lord's arrangement?

With so many dead, did the Eternal Kingdom truly exist?

Her frank and honest nature prevented this saint from deceiving herself, and her expression shifted uncertainly.
