In the dark alley, a Mohawk with his face smeared in blood and grime scrambled into a corner, curling up against the wall. He clamped a hand over his mouth and stared fearfully into the pitch-black surroundings, pale as a frightened bird.

Just moments ago, he had watched the guys who had been robbing women with him get their limbs twisted into knots and their heads turned a full 180 degrees. Like dolls in that man and woman's hands, they had been casually taken apart, then several living people had vanished soundlessly into the darkness.

In truth, magi who could reasonably eliminate witnesses in order to conceal Mystery had never been particularly merciful.

Just as the punk was jumping at shadows, a sudden crashing sound came from deep in the alley. It frightened the burly man into letting out a restrained, almost feminine shriek. His legs trembled, and he could not move an inch.

It was over!

The shadow around the corner stretched inch by inch. Paralyzed by fear, the Mohawk's heart turned to ash. He stood frozen in place, waiting for the end of his fate.
