Rest and Recuperation

The crowd gathered around Shadao, still needing to confirm the truth of the news. When Shadao nodded heavily again, Shadao's kin finally believed Avila's father. The King of Dirt Clod Star's fate a hundred years ago was tragic, the scene of his dismembered body as if right before their eyes. The remaining people had to confirm it again and again.

Shadao pulled Shaz forward and asked Avila's father, "What should we do with this invader?"

Seeing that Shadao had captured an invader, everyone shouted angrily from the side, "Kill him! Kill him!"

Shaz, terrified, immediately knelt on the ground and wept, "I just arrived on Dirt Clod Star, I haven't killed any of your people, please spare me!" Shaz kept repeating these two sentences, kowtowing to the crowd, appearing extremely frightened.

Suddenly, a middle-aged man walked out, his face full of deep hatred, and said to Shaz, "Invaders are no good, they are all extremely evil, kill him!"

After hearing the old man's words, the middle-aged man was at a loss. He squatted on the ground, holding his head and crying. The misplaced hatred made everyone feel helpless.

Avila looked at Shaz kneeling on the ground and said pitifully, "Since he hasn't killed our people, can we not kill him?" Her gentle voice immediately quieted the agitated scene.

Everyone looked at Shaz in silence. A mother pulled the child in her arms and turned her head away.

The silence was terrifying, only the sound of everyone's sobs could be heard.

Shadao promptly stepped forward and said, "Lord Krillin is here, let Lord Krillin decide!"

Krillin glanced at Shadao, "Damn it, you finally remembered me, a Galactic Patrol officer!" It was better for the internal affairs of Dirt Clod Star to be resolved by themselves, but everyone's gaze had shifted to Krillin, forcing Krillin to step forward.

Krillin slowly walked to Shaz's side.

Seeing Krillin, Shaz became even more frightened. Krillin had captured him, and now his life was in Krillin's hands.

Shaz heard Krillin sentence him with the crime of being an accomplice and felt a great relief in his heart. Before he fainted, he thought, "At least I won't die now."

After passing judgment on Shaz's crime, Krillin immediately explained to everyone, "What Shaz said just now was not false. He has not killed any of the Mudball Star people."

Krillin was the best law here. Krillin's authority now carried more weight than the King of Dirt Clod Star's. Dirt Clod Star was still waiting for Krillin's rescue, and everyone believed Krillin's words wholeheartedly.

Avila's father stepped forward and asked cautiously, "Lord Krillin, what should we do next?"

Krillin looked at the starving people before him. The living environment here was simply too harsh. The overall terrain of Dirt Clod Star was Gobi and marshland, but there were still oases in the Gobi. If Krillin guessed correctly, the central oasis should be their former habitat, but everyone's current condition was too poor to undertake long-distance migration.

Krillin surveyed the surroundings and said, "Make a fire, cook food, let everyone rest well, and move into those aliens' bases for now!"

Avila's father heard Krillin's words and immediately went to organize his people, heading towards the aliens' bases. However, there were too many people, and they couldn't all enter the aliens' bases to recuperate. They had to let the elderly, children, and the severely ill enter the alien bases first. The remaining people slowly spread out around the alien bases, forming a circular formation.

Everyone was already exhausted, and most people collapsed on the ground, sleeping peacefully.

Avila's father organized people to cook. There was a large pot in the gathering of thousands of people, and dark, unidentifiable food was boiling inside.

"Dinner's ready, Avila!" Avila's father called out to Avila.

"Coming, Father!" Avila hopped in obediently.

Avila's father scooped two large bowls of dark stuff and handed them to Avila, his eyes full of love, "Give them to Lord Krillin and Brother Shadao first."

"Okay, Father." Avila quickly took the large bowls and ran outside.

Seeing this, Avila's father couldn't help but remind her, "Slow down, don't spill it!" Every mouthful was life-saving food. All his kin had been enslaved, so naturally, no one was engaged in production. He hadn't eaten anything like the dark stuff in the pot for ten years. Avila's father looked at the rations in the pot with some sadness.

Avila, holding two large bowls, ran towards the direction opposite the large pillar. Krillin and Shadao had not moved into the aliens' bases. Krillin chose to set up his residence on the tallest stone pillar so that Shadao could better watch over his kin.

Shadao looked at his kin below, their stomachs empty, starving everywhere, and his heart grew even angrier. His eyes turned red, and he kicked Shaz, who was tied up on the ground, cursing, "You despicable invaders!"

Shaz cried out in surrender, "I know I was wrong, don't hit me anymore. Wuwuwu..."

"Brother Shadao! Father asked me to bring you food!" Avila ran up to Shadao.

Seeing Avila arrive, Shadao quickly put away his rough demeanor and smiled awkwardly at Avila.

Shadao looked at Avila, whose little face was flushed red and who was still panting, and felt a surge of affection. On impulse, he used the corner of his clothes to wipe Avila's forehead.

Seeing Shadao wipe her sweat, Avila's little face turned even redder, and she widened her eyes, looking at Shadao.

Shadao said while wiping sweat, "Didn't I give you a communicator? You just had to call us when it was time to eat. You ran all this way to call us, you must be tired." Shadao's eyes were full of affection as he wiped his sweat.

"I'm not tired, not tired!" Avila said quickly.

Shadao wanted to say more, but Krillin couldn't help but cough a few times, cursing inwardly, "You brat! I don't even have a wife yet, and you're showing off your affection in front of me!"

Ever since Avila met Shadao, she had felt a sense of closeness to him. It was also the scene of Shadao protecting Avila that had shocked her. After all, Avila had not known what a sense of security was for a very long time.

Hearing Krillin's cough, Shadao felt a little awkward. He quickly took the bowls from Avila's hands, handed them to Krillin, and said respectfully, "Lord Krillin, please eat first!"

Krillin gave a faint "Mm" and took the bowl, bringing it to his mouth. He slurped it like he was eating porridge in his past life, "Slurp!" But then Krillin frowned, his expression one of pain.
