After parting with Wendy, Noah returned to the guild and his room in a near-memoryless daze.
Lying on his bed, Noah recalled Wendy's face, red as a tomato, and could not help but laugh bitterly.
"Just kidding... Looks like it wasn't like that after all..."
Or rather, in Noah's memory, Wendy was not the kind of girl who would make such a joke.
"Just pure admiration... That doesn't seem to be it either..."
When a child said they had to marry someone when they grew up, anyone would probably take it as childish nonsense.

After all, Noah was only about to turn twenty, while Wendy was about to turn fifteen.
A five-year gap was neither particularly large nor particularly small.
A girl about to turn fifteen was obviously not at an age where she would innocently blurt out that she wanted to become someone's bride.
It was clear from Wendy's bashful appearance that she understood exactly what her words meant.
"So that means I was confessed to by a kid almost five years younger than me?"
At that point, Noah's expression became exceedingly strange, carrying even a faint hint of utter embarrassment.
"The worst part is that I said something like that."
He still remembered how he had responded to Wendy's confession at the time.
