She did know a little about the desert, but because there were no Void Terminals there at all, there was nothing she could do. What she knew of the desert had come through Void Terminals from Golden Troupe members stationed in the rainforest.

Like the Raiden Shogun, King Deshret had not ruled over the desert after the Crimson Prince passed away. The desert then descended into a struggle among countless powers, with rulers changing by the day.
The kings of the various city-states back then had pulled one ridiculous stunt after another. Fathers and sons turning on each other was commonplace. There were even more outrageous cases: one nation had originally been a slave state, but one day its king suddenly declared that everyone was equal and abolished slavery. There was naturally nothing wrong with that policy itself, but it had been far too ahead of its time.
Introducing such a policy in an era when the people remained unenlightened only plunged the country into chaos before it quickly perished. Even Shen Fei now would not dare implement such a policy.
