Fuliujia cried out in disbelief. Everyone else turned their eyes toward Lord El-Melloi II as well. While Kiyoharu being the murderer was certainly surprising, it was not entirely unacceptable to Magicians. But being Geryon's son? That was far too absurd.
"Exactly, exactly. I know perfectly well that I am Tokito Jirobo Kiyoharu," Kiyoharu himself protested.
"Lord El-Melloi II, although I am certain you have your reasons for saying so, he is a man from the Far East. How could he possibly be Geryon's son?" Heine said.
Heine's question was the question in every magician's heart.
"Then let us begin from the start. And to do that, we must first discuss what this invitation truly represented." Lord El-Melloi II took out Separation City's invitation from his pocket.
"Wasn't this an invitation meant to determine the heir?" Luvia asked.
"To put it more directly, why were all of us gathered here? To solve a puzzle in search of a suitable heir? Everyone understood that a magician's nature was not that of a detective. They did not have that sort of twisted sense of humor."
Magicians were not detectives. A detective might set some kind of puzzle to choose an heir out of sheer perversity, but a magician never would. If a magician did such a thing, it definitely meant he was concealing something.
"Quite right. Though you are becoming more and more like a detective yourself. Come to think of it, wouldn't having Sherlock Holmes possess you suit you better than Zhuge Kongming?"
Although Lord El-Melloi II was talking about the nature of Magicians, Shen Fei felt that he himself was becoming increasingly detective-like. Besides, the detective novels Gray read had originally
