Wang Lei cautiously made his way back to his shop. Only when he saw that everything inside was exactly as it had been when he left did he finally breathe a small sigh of relief.
After storing the Exoskeleton back into the system, he checked the Energy Points he had earned from eliminating the Taotie: 100 points. Not bad. That was equivalent to killing a hundred adult pigs. It could be exchanged for two Energy Batteries, so it was no loss. Unfortunately, the system could not charge items exchanged from within the system itself. Otherwise, Wang Lei would have long since stepped on his own left foot and flown into the sky.
And judging by today's situation, that Taotie scout had been even weaker than an Interstellar Peace Corporation security guard. Of course, it had only been a minor soldier. The Taotie troops equipped with Void Engines later on probably would not be so easy to deal with.
Still, the Super Soldier Company was out there holding the line. His top priority now was to find a way to get more Energy Points and increase his strength. He did not need to reach Emanator Level, but at the very least, he had to become as strong as those top-tier Path Walkers. That way, he would at least have the ability to protect himself in the Super God Universe.
Looking at the system's energy, which had already reached 100%, Wang Lei decided that over the next few days, he would travel to other worlds and do some farming. On Earth, it was currently impossible to obtain a super energy source in one go, and he could not go around killing in large numbers either.
With disaster looming, the lack of ways to obtain Energy Points could no longer be ignored.
However, Wang Lei was not planning to travel tonight. He returned to his usual relaxed state instead. He had not even finished that custom Civilization 5 game from the afternoon, and now was the perfect time to continue.
The next morning, Wang Lei reopened his shop as if nothing had happened, despite having played nearly all night. That was the good thing about the Stellaron's boost—going without sleep for a day or two did not affect his condition at all. Even if he got tired, sleeping for two or three hours would bring him back to life on the spot.
Wang Lei had originally thought today would be another ordinary day. He called Qi Lin in the morning, but she did not answer. He roughly guessed that she was undergoing routine questioning and signing a confidentiality agreement because of yesterday's incident, so he did not dwell on it.
With Qi Lin absent, his private kitchen restaurant was basically out of business. It was advertised as a members-only restaurant, but in reality, Wang Lei had issued fewer membership cards than he had fingers on one hand.
So Wang Lei planned to get some proper rest upstairs, then make his first trip through worlds that evening.
But Wang Lei had barely dozed off when Rui Mengmeng came stomping upstairs again, thud, thud, thud, thud, looking somewhat flustered.
"Boss, stop sleeping. A gorgeous blonde woman in some pretty strange clothes came downstairs and specifically asked to see you."
Wang Lei was like a salted fish too lazy to even turn over. Annoyed, he said, "What blonde beauty? Mengmeng, go tell her this is a members-only restaurant. We don't serve people without membership cards. If she cooperates, take a bottle of Hot Floating Goat Milk from the temperature-controlled cabinet and give it to her. If she doesn't, call the police."
But Rui Mengmeng did not leave. Instead, she forcibly hauled Wang Lei to his feet with a single pull of her monstrous strength.
"No, Boss. She has one of our membership cards. You have to go down and receive her."
The moment Wang Lei heard that, he woke up completely. She had a membership card? How was that possible? He had practically opened this place as a hobby, and the membership cards had only been given to a few foreign suppliers he knew well. Those people were basically all middle-aged uncles.
The only young woman he had given one to was Qi Lin. How could a blonde beauty possibly show up with a membership card? Could she be one of those uncles' daughters? No way. They understood the rules of the chef trade. They would definitely make an appointment before coming.
Thus, Wang Lei went downstairs in confusion. When he saw the visitor, he wished he could rewind time. He should never have come down.
He could not exactly say he was unfamiliar with the visitor. It was none other than Angel Yan, the most beautiful woman north of the Milky Way. She was currently sitting on a round barstool by the counter.
All Wang Lei wanted to do now was complain to Mengmeng. Why had she not mentioned those enormous wings earlier? If she had said an angel had arrived, he would have at least prepared his explanation before coming downstairs.
Yet Rui Mengmeng, standing behind Wang Lei, was still solemnly explaining, "Boss, it's this young lady cosplaying as an angel. She's holding one of our membership cards."
Wang Lei was speechless. Did angels forge things these days too? As for his membership card, they could probably pull out a whole stack of documents about relevant personnel in minutes. No wonder Mengmeng could not tell whether it was real or fake.
Wang Lei could only sigh and say, "Mengmeng, close the shop. Then go to the seafood market and buy a few live Bread Crabs. We have an honored guest. Your boss is going to show off some skills."
Rui Mengmeng nodded and ran off at once. That girl had always been highly efficient.
After seeing Rui Mengmeng leave, Angel Yan turned to look at Wang Lei. Her sideways sitting posture made her absolute territory appear and disappear from view, like a black hole that involuntarily drew one's gaze toward it.
Fortunately, Wang Lei's self-control was decent. He managed not to embarrass himself on the spot, forcibly shifted his eyes away, and walked over to the drink cabinet behind the counter. "Honorable Angel, what would you like to drink?"
Seeing that Wang Lei had not fallen for her little trick, Angel Yan turned to sit properly. Supporting her head with one hand, she looked at him. "Kid, anything will do. Angels aren't picky about such things."
The moment Wang Lei heard that, he unhesitatingly dug out a bottle of Soda Soymilk from the box at the very bottom, poured a glass for Angel Yan, and set it before her.
Angel Yan only needed one glance at the Soda Soymilk to know what it was. Her expression turned somewhat displeased. "Kid, you're using this to entertain an angel?"
Wang Lei tossed the remaining half bottle of soymilk directly into the trash, then washed his hands as he said, "You said anything was fine. Besides, this is perfectly suitable for a customer who forged a VIP card."
Angel Yan immediately revealed an intrigued expression and said in a seductive voice, "Interesting. Strange little kid, I actually can't read your information. Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
Wang Lei was delighted inside. The angels could not read his Dark Plane Information? That really was good news. It seemed to be another passive effect of fusing with the Stellaron. He would never call the Stellaron trash again. On the surface, however, he took out another cup, poured her a canned Happy Water, and handed it over. "Wang Lei. Earthling."
Angel Yan wore an expression that said, That's it? "Nothing else?"
Wang Lei spread his hands. "Nothing else."
Angel Yan seemed so annoyed that she laughed. Her expression cooled slightly as she said, "Heh. Kid, you're not being honest. My name is Angel Yan. You seem to know about us angels, so I assume I don't need to introduce us further?"
Wang Lei nodded to indicate that no further introduction was needed, then replied, "I'm not being dishonest. I am indeed an Earthling. A one-hundred-percent Earthling. I just had a bit of a fortuitous encounter. But tell me, are angels the kind of race that destroys anything unknown to them?"
Angel Yan gave him a dazzlingly beautiful smile, then said seriously, "Of course not. As long as you haven't violated the Justice Order, the angels won't do anything to you."
Wang Lei nodded, then continued asking, "Then may I ask how you found me? Since you can't read my Dark Plane Information, you shouldn't have been able to locate me."
Angel Yan did not hide it. "Very simple. We couldn't scan you, but that armor of yours was another matter. We only needed to locate it to know that the armored person from last night disappeared here. At first, I thought it was your Clerk, who had just activated her Super Gene. But the moment you came downstairs, you exposed yourself."
