Background

Ikki is Kurogane Gen’s son and Shizuku Kurogane’s older brother. His inferior Magic Power led others to treat him as a failure despite his exceptional swordsmanship; as an F-Rank Knight, he had previously found few people willing to spar with him rather than mock him. 5 19

His success as a Magic Knight places him in conflict with his father’s commitment to the existing hierarchy. Byakuya explains that Ikki’s victories threaten the social assumption that people with weak Magic Power cannot succeed, making him a “challenger of the system” in Gen’s eyes. 19 20

While imprisoned and pressured by the ethics committee, Ikki reassesses what being a Blade Dancer means to him. He resolves not to abandon that identity and later declares his goal of becoming a Demon—both to surpass his limits and to earn his father’s genuine approval. 19 20

Personality

Ikki is humble and initially uncomfortable with praise, thanking White Night intensely simply for accepting a sparring match. He consistently credits others for his victories and remains modest even when recognized as a skilled knight. 5 11
