Marineford, Marine Headquarters Plaza
Kong looked at the enemy standing opposite him and said:
"The Lone Red - Ballrick Redfield! Are you trying to repeat Golden Lion Shiki's mistake?"
Redfield scanned the soldiers surrounding him, his arrogant gaze and disdainful expression evident on the surface.
"Kong, your Navy's younger generation doesn't seem to be up to par! Where's that new recruit they're hyping up in the papers? Let me test him out?"
"Hmph, still talking tough when you're on your deathbed!"
While these two old men were exchanging verbal jabs, Mo Xingchen and the other three arrived at the scene.
"Yo, Fleet Admiral Kong, what brings you out to greet guests today? Who is this? An old flame of yours?"
Mo Xingchen was no longer the Mo Xingchen of the past; today, he was Mo "Prawn" Xingchen! He was already bruised and battered, so he didn't care anymore. Who was he afraid of?
"You beast! I'll deal with you later!"
Kong instantly turned red with anger. If it weren't for the formidable enemy before them, he would have definitely dealt with this "cleansing of the house" first!
At this moment, Vice Admiral Tsuru whispered information about the person before them into Mo Xingchen's ear. He suddenly realized, "Oh! So it's the old bat who can take on an army alone. But at this point, he probably hasn't eaten a Devil Fruit yet!"
So, he felt that his old comrades were gone and the world wasn't worth it, and he came to challenge a hellish dungeon?
Redfield was also silently observing this glib and nonsensical young man. He discovered that his Observation Haki couldn't penetrate the young man's mind or sense his emotions. While this wouldn't be strange for a seasoned expert, its appearance in such a young person meant something entirely different.
Either this young man possessed strength comparable to a seasoned expert, or he was extraordinary. Either way, it indicated that this young Marine was no ordinary individual.
"This young man is quite interesting. Want to have a fight with me!"
Redfield had originally intended to have a duel with Kong, but now he couldn't help but become interested in Mo Xingchen.
"Hey! Don't think about bullying the young ones. If you want a fight, I'll fight you!" Garp said nonchalantly, picking his nose.
"Forget it, I came to find your boss! Kong, let's do it! Let's us two draw a line under the old era!"
Redfield glanced at Garp, then turned to issue his challenge to Kong.
The two immediately engaged in battle. Mo Xingchen couldn't clearly recall who among them would win, but he did remember that Redfield was eventually captured and sent to prison for labor reform.
While muttering complaints, he watched as medics entered the scene to begin treating the injured soldiers. He also went to get some treatment, as his face was still swollen.
Fortunately, Redfield only intended to cause a ruckus with Kong and didn't go all out on the soldiers below. Even the burning warships were mostly repaired without major issues, only a few cannons were destroyed.
Mo Xingchen looked up at the two battling in the sky. The difference in their strength was subtle; Kong had superior power, while Redfield was faster. Such life-and-death duels between masters were very long, much like the later battle between Akainu and Kuzan for Fleet Admiral, which took a full ten days to decide the victor.
Sengoku and Garp clearly understood this and, from somewhere, produced a picnic blanket, snacks, and hot tea! It was as if they were on a spring outing. Mo Xingchen shamelessly joined the outdoor feast of these two rascals.
However, the sounds of fighting continued to attract many Generals. Zephyr, being familiar with them, joined Mo Xingchen's small group and commented on the battle in the field. Borsalino and other Generals stood with Vice Admiral Tsuru to watch.
Unlike the solemn soldiers around them, these were old hands of the Marines. They marveled at how Fleet Admiral Kong, at his age, was still sharp, and they also marveled at Redfield's terrifying strength, truly worthy of being compared to the two great Pirate crews of Roger and Whitebeard... Damn criminal!
Politically correct, the Marines couldn't praise pirates!
This time, unlike when Golden Lion invaded Marineford, Golden Lion clearly came to vent his emotions, unleashing powerful attacks one after another. Although the reason for Redfield's arrival this time was unknown, the destruction he caused to Marineford was negligible compared to Golden Lion's.
Moreover, Golden Lion's indiscriminate killing was without purpose. Redfield, on the other hand, only targeted Kong. He remained indifferent as more and more Generals gathered at the crescent harbor and the Gates of Justice were closed.
"To be honest, Redfield is quite a strong individual!" Mo Xingchen said while sipping his tea.
Zephyr nodded in agreement and said, "Indeed, much better than Golden Lion. I thought only someone whose head was smashed by a ship's helm, like Golden Lion, could do such foolish things. I didn't expect there to be more than one crazy person."
"Clang~ Clang~ Clang~"
At this moment, the end-of-work bell rang. Unknowingly, these two had been fighting for the entire afternoon. Borsalino brushed the dust off his clothes.
"I'll come back tomorrow when I'm on duty!"
"No way! Officer! You still have to stick to a nine-to-five schedule in a situation like this?"
Borsalino looked at Mo Xingchen's incredulous expression and pushed up his tea-colored sunglasses.
"Tsk~ I'm not like you, a mere captain. Officer, I am very busy~"
Garp, hearing the banter between these two clowns, burst into laughter and shouted at the sky, "Old Kong! It's quitting time, want to grab a meal!"
"Scram!"
Kong's anger reached its peak, and he could only vent his frustration at the future Red Earl, clenching his massive fist and smashing it towards Redfield.
"Bang!"
Redfield was sent flying backward from the impact! His mouth bulged, and then his throat moved as if he had swallowed something.
Mo Xingchen, with his sharp eyes, saw this and quickly shouted:
"Redfield! Did Fleet Admiral Kong make you spit something out, and then you swallowed it back?"
"Bastard!"
The Red Earl roared upon hearing this. Did he spit something out? He was bleeding! It was blood! With his own willpower, he forced himself to swallow it! Don't you understand the romance of old-school men! You damn brat!
Kong, whose face had just turned red with anger, now saw his expression clear up upon hearing Mo Xingchen's words, and he let out a laugh. His barrage of attacks also slowed down.
Vice Admiral Tsuru came up behind Mo Xingchen and smacked the back of his head. "We're about to eat, don't talk about such disgusting topics!"
Fleet Admiral Sengoku, with a senbei in his mouth, didn't know whether to swallow it or spit it out. He glared furiously at Mo Xingchen!
Vice Admiral Tsuru gave Sengoku a look, then pulled Mo Xingchen to his feet.
"It looks like this won't be over anytime soon. You three stay here and keep watch, just in case anything unexpected happens. I'm taking Little Mo to eat. I'll have him bring food back for you later. I still have a lot of official business to handle, so I won't be staying up all night here."
