Given the Shattered Talisman Society's harsh and brutal methods in particular, any betrayer who managed to escape would inevitably be hunted forever. If they were unlucky enough to be caught on the spot... then death was practically guaranteed.
So, when the grim-eyed Mad Knight pierced the Legendary White Dragon's skull flesh with the tip of his lance while demanding to know whether Serallin had betrayed the Shattered Talisman Society, the Winter Princess immediately understood what the venomous Instant Kill Spear meant.
Only traitors would sympathize with enemies. So now, Serallin either had to eat Hajones and prove her commitment to evil, or die as a traitor. It was that simple.
"Death..."
Death was the deepest and most fundamental terror lurking in the souls of all normal living beings. Moreover, the stronger and longer-lived someone was, the more they often feared death. Mortals chased after the Legendary tier to escape death, while Legends, seeking to avoid the risks of death, unanimously turned themselves into isolated islands... Many times, simply staying alive was itself an immense achievement and stroke of luck. And when that indispensable "achievement" was about to be lost, how many could truly lay down the burdens in their hearts and face it calmly?
Serallin Frostfang could not. She was deeply terrified of death.
In fact, it was precisely to escape death that she had cast aside a dragon's dignity at the Horaka Defense Line and used Soul Charm to capture the heart of Intent of Incantations. It was also to avoid death that she had flown away from the Faerun plane with all her strength, fleeing this war-torn land of conflict.
