Any intelligent creature with visual organs could see, from far away at the borders of the Hatak Plains, the Bright Moon magic tower standing between heaven and earth, blooming with brilliant radiance day and night. Thus, to avoid approaching that landmark of danger and terror as much as possible, aside from the rare traveling merchants willing to risk their lives for money and brave enough to cross the Hatak vast plain to trade with distant kingdoms, most merchants seeking wealth could only obediently skirt around the vast emerald grasslands and travel from the most roundabout borders of the Hatak Plains to other nations in pursuit of riches.
However, circling around a great plain so vast that its borders could not be seen at a glance, one that had once supported an empire-sized nation, was no easy task. The Faerun plane was already so enormous that even trade between two small kingdoms was fraught with difficulties. Having to travel a route five times the straight-line distance only made these already dangerous and time-consuming mercantile journeys even more arduous.
