Journeyman Level Abjuration Spell—Energy Conversion Spell. Punk cast the spell at the small sphere, which had grown increasingly hot and had already reached a temperature of at least two thousand degrees. The sphere's energy rapidly transformed into calm Aether Energy. In just a few seconds, the sphere that had been blazing and bright like a tiny sun dissolved into beautiful white specks of light and scattered through the air...
Punk lightly shook his left hand a few times. As Mage Armor faded away, the bright red burn on his palm was revealed. Looking at the burn, which stood out starkly against his pale skin, Punk let out a soft breath. He cast an Apprentice Level Evocation Spell—Lesser Heal—on his palm. As the gentle life energy covered it, the pain from the red burn quickly subsided. In less than twenty seconds, the skin on Punk's hand had returned to its original state, still so fair and delicate.
Punk flexed his long fingers, which had lost none of their dexterity, then slowly raised his head. Before him lay a mess that did not surprise him in the slightest. Looking at the wooden cabin, which had gone from "broken" to "wrecked," Punk stood there in a daze.
The floor was littered with splintered wood, much of it charred by the heat. Several walls he had pierced through were even more horrific to behold. Through the holes, most of which had turned to charcoal, Punk could see all the way to his laboratory. As for whether his alchemy tools had survived, Punk truly had no confidence at all.
For no reason at all, a nameless fury began burning in Punk's heart...
Punk had no objection to classifying the potion as Apprentice Level; after all, its effects really were only Apprentice Level. But the bastard who had listed its brewing requirements as Apprentice Level and placed its difficulty under the medium category definitely had malicious intentions. In "theory," an Apprentice Level Mage really could brew this Night Vision Potion, as long as he had a set of basic alchemy tools and had learned several basic alchemical spells... But take note! That was only theory, only theory, only theory. Important things had to be said three times!
In reality, Punk was certain that even a Journeyman Mage like himself, with a cheat at his disposal, had found the brewing process so difficult. If it were an ordinary Apprentice Level Mage instead... Unless he was the legendary alchemical prodigy who appeared once in ten thousand years, then even if he wasted tens of thousands of gold coins' worth of materials, even if he spent three or four years studying it, even if he had a capable and experienced mentor to keep him from blowing himself up, whether he could truly brew a so-called "Apprentice Level difficulty" potion with Apprentice Level strength in the end would still be a huge question mark! Therefore, for most Mage Apprentices who dreamed of alchemy, this path of alchemy—with its expensive knowledge, expensive materials, and expensive tools—was not only incredibly costly, but also a trap! A goddamn trap! The kind that could get them killed if they were not careful!
Thinking of this, Punk began to consider the development of modern magical civilization. Mages, who had deeply inherited the legacy of the Netherese Civilization, showed no signs of reviving that glorious magical civilization. Instead, they seemed increasingly stagnant and declining. The scarcity of mages was proof enough!
Punk felt that the "obstruction of the gods" people often spoke of was not the primary reason. What truly hindered the revival of magical civilization were the various flaws within the current mage world. Look at mages nowadays: every one of them hoarded knowledge selfishly, writing books that passed down important knowledge while keeping something back and setting traps for others... These flaws, so often ignored, were the true great enemies on the road to magical revival!
Thinking of this, Punk helplessly shook his head. He could do nothing about the deeply rooted problems of mages now. If he wanted knowledge, he had to work hard to exchange for it, fight for it, seize it... That was the reality before him!
Feeling somewhat empty inside, Punk simply ignored the scattered wood fragments covering the floor of the house. I'll just treat them as an unusual carpet. The most urgent matter was to summarize and analyze the reasons for his failure, learn from it, and then begin his next attempt... Punk dusted off his spotless mage robe and walked expressionlessly back to the laboratory through the trail of holes. He was not someone who gave up easily!
"System, analyze the cause of the energy conflict." After giving the System its task, Punk began carefully inspecting every piece of alchemy tools. Fortunately, thanks to Punk's timely "sacrifice," the tools were all completely undamaged...
"Analysis result: Unit 7 positive energy made improper contact with Unit 213 semi-energy. Magic control line 7648 failed to interrupt the improper contact in time, resulting in a chain thermal energy conversion."
"System, analyze the solution!"
"Analysis result: Adjust Unit 7 positive energy density, adjust the timing of Dark Element Unit 335 intervention, and add a magic control line to Unit 213 semi-energy."
"Very—good!" Punk set down the alchemy tools in his hand and stretched lazily. His hood was accidentally knocked off by his raised arm, revealing a head of deep blue hair. Every strand looked crystal-clear in the faint light...
"Is my hair growing a little too fast? I'll trim it when I have time!" Punk lightly arranged his hair before putting his hood back on.
"Begin preparations for the second brewing attempt. System, record the information..."
After a full day and night of struggle, Punk had nearly exhausted his magic power and immediately meditated each time, continuing to brew as soon as he had recovered. After using up all ten sets of alchemical materials, he finally brewed a qualified Night Vision Potion. Though it was only an Apprentice Level support potion, it represented the basics and entry point of alchemy. From this day onward, Punk could be considered an alchemist!
The Night Vision Potion was stored in a test tube, its opening sealed with a magically enhanced cork stopper. Within the crystal-clear transparent potion, faint dark-purple strands of light slowly rotated, like a spiraling coil turning at a leisurely pace. Under the illumination created by the Dancing Light Spell, the clean and clear Night Vision Potion looked breathtakingly beautiful. Barring any accidents, this potion could be stored for as long as three years. If maintained through magical means, its shelf life could be extended even further.
"So, after working all day and all night, I really only broke even?" Punk muttered to himself in a completely flat tone, but he was actually somewhat pleased inside. During this process of learning alchemy, he had gained a great deal of experience in magic control and alchemical energy fusion. Those were the greatest rewards of Punk's twenty-seven hours of effort.
As he examined his "masterpiece"—that test tube of Night Vision Potion—his sharp elven ears caught the faint sound of light, graceful music drifting in from outside, mixed with much noise and cheering.
Punk remembered that the Verdant Festival celebration the barbecue uncle had mentioned seemed to be taking place today. In his good mood, Punk decided to go out and see this festival celebration of another world, and incidentally buy some materials to replenish his supplies.
