At the edge of the "Glimmer Hills" in the border region of the Hatak Kingdom stood an ordinary town of neither great nor small size. Overall, it was a very ordinary, very common town. Like nearly every ordinary town, it had roads paved with gravel, several unadorned yet heavily laden carriages racing along them, walls covered in moss and vines, and haphazardly scattered houses built almost entirely from badly weathered wood.
Because the town's economy primarily depended on gathering a kind of "Glimmer Flower" that grew on the nearby "Glimmer Hills," the town was simply named Glimmer Town. Naming towns directly after their representative cash crops was common practice. As for whether it shared its name with countless other "Glimmer Towns" across the Faerun plane... the busy townsfolk had no time to care about such boring questions.
A kingdom could be turbulent every single day, but a town's daily life was often always plain and monotonous... Glimmer Town was a particularly monotonous town.
Every morning, dozens of "herb gatherers" set out together from the town gate in search of "Glimmer Flowers." They risked climbing the mountain called the "Glimmer Hills," though it should really have been called the "Steep Cliff Face," then gambled on finding even a single Glimmer Flower before nightfall and returning to town before the wolf packs in the "hills" set their sights on them.
Since Glimmer Flowers were rather valuable Apprentice Level magical materials, a single flower could sell for a full five gold coins. After paying three gold coins in taxes to the "honorable lord," the remaining two coins could be divided among the dozen or so people who had labored all day.
