"Force an assault"?
Punk stared silently at the black crystal card in his hand, his gaze flickering with profound uncertainty.
Faced with the sudden exposure of the mission just as it was about to begin, the Chairman's response had undoubtedly been swift and decisive. First, he fulfilled the promise he had made at the meeting—preventing Mestur, the Blazing Sun Throne Archmage of the Mage Guild, from interfering in the dispute. Then, he immediately issued new orders, pointing the three stunned teams in a clear direction.
Logically speaking, the three teams had already received their advance payment, so they ought to have continued diligently completing their mission. Those capable of mounting a direct assault should attack immediately, while those who lacked the strength to face Ankazan Flamebrow, the "Burner," should withdraw at once. After all, the Chairman's arrangement was perfectly reasonable from a logical standpoint.
Yet at this very moment, Punk found himself somewhat hesitant about the order to launch a direct assault...
As a spellcaster who possessed a Legendary magic tower, Punk understood better than anyone just how formidable a magic tower's defenses could be. Without exaggeration, fighting within the attack range of a Legendary spellcaster's magic tower was simply the most foolish decision imaginable. This was also why the Chairman considered Sage Owen, a level-twenty-seven mage, more dangerous than the level-thirty mage Dinasaya.
Even though both Whisper of Destruction and Thick Rock Layer were no weaker in class level than the Rune Sage, and they were even facing him two against one, once the existence of the magic tower was taken into account...
The outcome of this battle truly became difficult to predict. The cautious spellcaster could not be certain whether the Chairman's claim that they were "capable of completing the mission" was an overestimation of his subordinates.
