Since the scenery was rather lovely, Sebastian, the construct butler in charge of maintaining the grounds, had not filled it in. Before long, the ceaselessly gushing groundwater had transformed the deep valley into a gleaming lake like a polished mirror, and the sunlight reflected from its pristine surface could even be seen from within the magic tower.
It was now summer. From afar, the lotus leaves upon the lake basked in the gentle sunlight, beneath the clear skies and warm breeze... Meanwhile, the silent lake repeated its millennia-old calm, its bottom silt lying quietly below, destined never to reach the surface in its entire existence. Beyond unchanging stillness, there was only darkness and confusion...
