• Huang Ji manipulated the battle at Greenwich Hospital, where Michelle died falling from the building, Nick was killed by Orange Hawk, and Saya crushed Orange Hawk after Huang Ji redirected him.
• Huang Ji explained the looming solar catastrophe and humanity’s place in interstellar society to Hawking, who agreed to join the Illuminati and seek alien knowledge by selling himself to the Marauders.
• Huang Ji persuaded Hawking to help build a covert spaceship, then placed Nuoqila under his authority and named their effort to purge the Illuminati Rebirth in Fire.

• Huang Ji escaped the sinking ship with Messiah, outmaneuvered the Illuminati pursuit, and learned why Evil Dragon had defected from the organization.
• Huang Ji brought the group to New York, misled Sentinel trainees into taking him to Base X13, and stole supplies while preparing to obtain its advanced equipment.
• Huang Ji trained the trainees, helped Hawk survive the Collapse Period, and revealed that the Illuminati had treated them as serum experiments.
• Coyote warned Huang Ji that his brother had left him exposed to take the blame, and urged him to defect and help the trainees escape.

Huang Ji led Messiah out of the Military Zone, evaded the Illuminati, and established a base in Detroit. He then launched a scheme to control Veronica Arona through Adams, while Old Wang infiltrated the Louis Family and Veronica prepared to lure Adams back.

• Musa discovered that Heinrich and Adams had stolen the Black Wand, but Adams bluffed him into fleeing and escaped the base with Heinrich.
• Huang Ji used the Black Wand to destroy most of Musa, then fled with Seth and Hawk as Marco became caught in the ensuing chaos and escaped with Nuoqila, Evil Dragon, and Alan.
• Nuoqila moved Messiah’s people and equipment through a storm while Brando pursued them, but Huang Ji’s group escaped after Brando planted tracking spores on them.
• Huang Ji removed the tracking spores, redirected the Illuminati toward migratory birds, and led Messiah to an abandoned automobile plant in Detroit, where he revealed the Buddha Bone’s Antimatter Battery.
• Adams warned that Veronica Arona controlled Detroit, and Huang Ji planned to use Adams’s relationship with her to bring her under Messiah’s control.
• Adams and Huang Ji helped destabilize Detroit’s gangs, and Adams killed Louis Family bosses before taking Louis’s contract to kill Veronica.
• Huang Ji and Adams attacked Veronica’s castle, with Huang Ji defeating Jones while Adams shot the guards and stabbed Veronica before escaping.

• Huang Ji helped Louis fend off a disguised attack, but Adams’s assault on Veronica exposed Louis’s betrayal and led Cat’s Eye to attack Louis’s mansion.
