Amu had intended to stop and rally the surviving troops, but the sight of the pursuing Dragonkin scared him into immediately shouting, "Hua Ji! Step on it! They're catching up!"
Huang Ji floored the accelerator, but autocannon fire rang out behind them.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The small-caliber automatic cannon shredded the command vehicle's rear compartment. Two rounds struck a wheel, sending the vehicle rolling across the road.
"Aaaah!" Amu screamed in despair. He was pinned inside.
Huang Ji climbed out of the overturned vehicle first. Seeing him, Amu hurriedly cried, "Get me out!"
"No. If I get you out, we'll both die. Stop shouting," Huang Ji said.
"Save me! I'm dead if they get here!" Amu said.
"Stay hidden in the vehicle and keep quiet. They'll think you're dead," Huang Ji said. "I'll run.
