At the Santa Fe Life Science Center, Osiris sat on the roof petting a dog, watching a helicopter return.
Amu helped Huang Ji down and took him to the base infirmary to recover. He then headed back outside, gathering the scattered troops by remote command and providing support for the White-Skinned Strongman and the others.
Before long, everyone in Santa Fe heard the base alarm.
"Enemy attack!"
"Seal all entrances."
The alarm rang through the entire Life Science Center. Amu stood outside the base's research facility in surprise and turned to find its blast doors already locked.
"What? Another attack? Is it Vahana?" Amu looked around.
Beyond the perimeter wall came bursts of gunfire. Santa Fe's A-Rank Guards were fighting.
The enemy had clearly reached the gates.
"Are they Lizardmen?" Amu demanded over his communicator.
"No! It's a group of unidentified Burning Devotion Sentinels!" a guard replied.
Amu jolted. Not Lizardmen, but... rebels! So the enemy's real plan was to cooperate with the Lizardmen. They drew away our main force while the Rebellious Faction sent a team to attack Santa Fe...
After a moment's thought, Amu shouted, "How many?"
"Six sentinels!" the guard said.
Amu raised his brows. "Only six? They dare attack Santa Fe with six people?"
He looked up. Santa Fe's only remaining S4 fighter, Osiris, was still on the roof, stroking the golden retriever puppy in his lap and gazing at the enemies beyond the wall. He showed no intention of fighting.
Osiris might not care to move, but his subordinates still had to act.
He had brought thirty-five people, all S-rank fighters. Most were S1, with only five S2s and no S3s.
It was not because he lacked authority. Quite the opposite: he was so strong that his squad had no need for a stronger lineup.
