Chapter 292: Our enemies weren't outside
That evening, Coyote brought Evil Dragon, Lin Li, Alan, and the others onto the island.
Originally, only Coyote had an invitation. Once the ship's invitation had been verified and it was allowed to approach the harbor, everyone else should have been turned away as crew members, forbidden from setting foot on the island.
After all, Lin Li, Alan, and the others were all unauthorized outsiders.
But the person receiving them happened to be Adams!
"Good thing you came with Coyote and fell under my jurisdiction. If you'd met up with Hua Xu first and come with the Egyptian fleet, you'd have had to go south... The person in charge over there follows every rule to the letter. You'd never have slipped in," Adams said with a smile.
"We actually were going to meet up with the Egyptians," Coyote said. "But Dragon... Hua Xu said we shouldn't gather in one place. It would be better to blend in with the ordinary pilgrims, so we came ahead."
"Oh, and Hua Xu only told me to use my invitation to get onto the island. If those three couldn't get in, they could wait three hundred nautical miles away."
Adams waved a hand. "It's fine. I'll get you through. Old Hua didn't know what position I have now. I'm in charge of people just like you. I outdid myself today and won over Veronica's father."
With that, he led them straight away, telling his subordinates responsible for checking identities that he knew these people and would verify their identities himself.
His subordinates had no objections, since the assistants with him had all been assigned by Veronica.
After all, Adams had been parachuted into a leadership position without any established support. Kidd was reportedly quite unhappy about it, too.
