The economy of an open planet was the most inflated.

Was a plot of land, a stretch of sea, or a shopping mall really worth that much? Of course not. Strictly speaking, they had been inflated by foreign capital, to the point that the Nomu themselves no longer had any land.

Across the entire Homeworld, only twenty percent of the land belonged to the Nomu, and all of it was in the hands of the wealthy elite.

Most of them made their living by gathering economic intelligence for foreign races, soliciting business, managing Nomu employees, and operating import-export trade, transportation, real estate, industry and mining, entertainment, and service sectors on their behalf...

Their influence then spread to the surrounding Star Ring Cities, the more distant Pyramid Floating City, and even other planets belonging to the Nomu Civilization.

This was the most technologically advanced place in the entire civilization, the political, cultural, and economic center for hundreds of billions of people. Once the economy collapsed and major corporations were unable to maintain order, the entire civilization would be affected. No one could remain untouched.

But there were degrees to the damage.

Foreign capital would undoubtedly suffer the greatest losses, but they were massive entities with the backing of other civilizations.

Unless they were small and medium-sized Beisel enterprises whose primary interests lay in the Nomu Civilization, most companies would not be crippled.

The next to suffer would be the Nomu foreign-worshipping class that had been cultivated—the people who owned twenty percent of the Homeworld's land.

Only after them would the broader Nomu populace be affected. Those at the bottom of society, like Cypher had once been, would barely be impacted.

They had little money to begin with. No matter how severe the economic crisis became, they could still get by.
