Thundersun activated his contingency, blowing up the entire Sun God Tree.
Before the detonation, he had also brought his energy shield to full power and fled at top speed.
Behind him, however, a terrifying wall of high-energy light bulldozed toward him, crushing everything in its path. The impact warped his energy shield almost beyond its limits.

Thundersun roared as his mech's energy reserves plummeted, the gauge about to bottom out in an instant.
Once his energy ran dry, the high-energy torrent would swallow him whole.
At that critical moment, a vast curtain of azure light descended from above, encircling the blast wave and enveloping the entire explosion site! The hypervelocity shock wave slowed as though it had plunged into a mire, until it was completely trapped inside the curtain.
Like a giant bell, the azure curtain suppressed the explosion.
It kept the blast from reaching more than twenty surrounding buildings, confining it firmly within a forty-five-kilometer radius of the epicenter.
The explosion itself had not vanished, however. The matter-antimatter annihilation of over fifty thousand tons released the power of roughly 150 billion Hiroshima atomic bombs, filling the azure curtain with brilliant white light.
From a distance, it looked like an enormous sphere of azure-tinged white light growing on the planet's surface.
That energy needed somewhere to go. Blocked by the curtain, the raging energy could only break through downward and bombard the seabed.
Since the Sun God Tree stood in the ocean, the explosion vaporized vast quantities of seawater, which the curtain then compressed and trapped inside. The terrifying pressure and heat soon triggered fusion, releasing even more energy.
Boom! Boom!
The azure bell-shaped shield trembled incessantly. Flash after flash erupted inside, but none could break through the azure curtain.
