A short, fat old man in his fifties walked with his hands clasped behind his back. Glancing sideways at Chen Mu, he casually asked, "What are you storing that needs to be kept out of the light?"
"A batch of medicinal herbs," Chen Mu said calmly, his appearance altered.
"Mm, some medicinal herbs do need to be kept somewhere cool." The Fat Old Man nodded in realization.
They chatted idly as they walked, and before long arrived before a small warehouse at the southeast corner.
After opening the bronze lock and removing the chain, the old man pushed open the gray wooden door, revealing a warehouse the size of a basketball court.
A heavy smell of mold rushed out.
"I'll say this upfront. It is cool in here, but it's damp too. If your herbs go bad, don't come looking for me," the Fat Old Man said.
"This place is excellent." Chen Mu examined the five or six small light-admitting windows on either side of the warehouse and nodded in satisfaction.
As long as he sealed those windows and had the Five Ghosts keep watch outside, he could block at least ninety percent of prying eyes.
It was perfect for stockpiling Yellow Sprout Rice and extracting Essence of Five Grains.
"Number Sixty-Seven. This is the one."
"Thank you for your patronage. Twelve White Jade Coins a month." The Fat Old Man immediately beamed.
Chen Mu could not help raising a brow.
"Don't think it's expensive. Prices are rising everywhere in the Water Mansion. There's nothing I can do about it." The fat old man shrugged.
