• Chen Mu found that the Divine Weapon consumed most of the Supernatural Power it gathered to sustain its barrier and distribute power to Chanting Cultivators, leaving him only a small share.
• Chen Mu appointed Xu Gui Vice City Lord, and Xu Gui distributed the doctored Rootless Sutra throughout White Bird City and made residents recite it daily.

After discovering that the city’s fear had more than doubled the Supernatural Power he could draw, Chen Mu considered using the captured demons to frighten residents again.

• Chen Mu realized Black Wind Demons were overwhelming White Bird City, but noticed one recoiled from his Five Ghosts Paper Figure and ordered it to capture the creature.
• Xu Gui escaped the winged Black Wind Demon and reached Chen Mu, who concluded the demons feared the Yama Heavenly Son Order.

Fang Zong discovered that Hai Long had planted him with a Heavenly Demon Spirit Seed, and the two decided to turn the other Three Paths City spies into White Bird City people. Chen Mu learned Three Paths City had plotted the attack, then devised a scheme to turn Formless City against it before attempting to control the captured Black Wind Demons.

• Fang Zong visited Hai Long, who revealed that the Rootless Sutra contained the secret of Chen Mu's Dragon Raising Divine Ability and tricked him into receiving a Heavenly Demon Spirit Seed.
• Fang Zong beat Hai Long, then agreed to help convert the other Three Paths City spies after learning that the spies would all be killed if one reported the Spirit Seed.
