It was dusk.
Unfortunately, with the advent of the dark and chaotic age, the horizon no longer held any magnificent, resplendent sunset clouds.
But Qixia Island had peach blossoms, far more beautiful than any sunset.
Su Yi and Xi Ning strolled through the peach grove.
The man wore a robe of azure, the woman a plain, pristine long dress. Walking beneath the fiery-red peach blossoms, they looked every bit like an immortal couple.
"Elder sister Xuanji was obviously joking earlier. Don't take her words to heart."
Xi Ning lowered her head, her feet treading upon the scattered fallen blossoms. Her gentle, clear voice was so soft it was nearly inaudible.
Su Yi smiled. "I think her reminder was quite good."
"Hm?" Xi Ning froze. "You... took it seriously?"
Su Yi smiled. "I'm a normal man. How could I not consider such things?"
Xi Ning immediately stood there at a loss, a flush spreading across her lovely Jade Face. She seemed not to know what to say at all.
Her disposition had always been tranquil, her bearing ethereal, like an immortal maiden untouched by the smoke and fire of the mortal world.
Yet now, Su Yi's blunt, straightforward words had clearly stunned her silly.
That appearance instead made her seem adorably naive.
Su Yi could not help but laugh. "You and I have known each other for years, and we have gone through many things together. It's even possible that in our past lives, you and I already had some special bond that could not be severed. In my eyes, that is fate decreed by heaven, is it not?"
Xi Ning's long eyelashes trembled faintly like little fans. Standing there, her jade hand clutched her sleeve, and it was obvious that her heart was far from calm.
