Through all sorts of unspeakable means, you quickly adapted to the environment of Yellow Star. You settled into a peaceful, unhurried life here, gradually reclaiming your humanity.

You discovered something interesting about this planet: although it was a futuristic technological world, it was not as airtight as you had imagined. Surveillance was not everywhere, and entering any random place did not require high-tech facial scans or carrying an identity tag.

People were very free and open with one another.

Or rather, the residents here were divided into conservatives and liberals, also known as traditionalists and New Era adherents.

The conservatives believed in one-on-one relationships, the kind where two people stayed together forever.

The latter, however, had let themselves go because the planet was nearing destruction and the apocalypse was imminent. No longer bound by the past, they indulged themselves to their hearts' content.

You mostly sought out the liberals. No responsibility, mutual consent.

But there was also a third kind. They did not play with feelings or crave fleeting pleasure; they simply came together for gene-matched breeding.

According to the system's allocations, two people with the most compatible genes and the highest chance of producing a genius were paired as spouses. Once they had a child, they would receive extra subsidies.

Those unwilling to reproduce naturally could also hand the corresponding cells over to a machine and collect their child ten months later.

The environment inside those machines was even better, making it easier to administer medicinal improvements during the embryonic stage. Optimization during artificial reproduction actually cost more.
