"Soul Saint Wizards may not serve as consuls!"
The sonorous voice echoed through the chamber, and the entire hall fell so silent that one could hear a pin drop.
The more than three hundred Imperial Councilors seated below the dais looked at the Legendary Wizard who had spoken, their expressions all changing, though their reactions differed. Some were shocked, some nervous, some indifferent, some furious, while others struggled not to lose their composure.
The next second, everyone looked toward the consul on the dais.
This proposal was aimed directly at the consul. Who didn't know that Lord Rayne was a Soul Saint Wizard? The consul was not only a Soul Saint Wizard; with Master Anxi, leader of the Modu School, rarely appearing over the past decade, he had effectively held absolute power and ruled the entire Empire!
The one who had put forward the motion was Master Nestu.
He was one of the Eight Leaves of Falanis Floating City and a student of Grey Eagle Duke. He also had another identity: the lord of Ladiya County under Longpis Duke's domain. The Count of Ladiya automatically held a seat on the Imperial Council.
Ladiya was the second-largest city in the duke's domain, surpassed only by Longpis. The fact that Master Nestu had been ennobled as a count showed how much the duke trusted him. He was unquestionably one of the duke's own people.
The supporters behind Master Nestu's bold motion were obvious at a glance.
The Imperial Councilors repeatedly glanced at Tim Kainan, but he wore an expressionless face, as if none of this had anything to do with him.
Everyone's eyes returned to the consul. They found that the consul was not as furious as expected. His expression was utterly calm, without the slightest ripple.
"Councilor Nestu," Rayne said blandly.
