A Down-and-Out Author's Confession on Release

I got the notice yesterday: the book would go up for sale on December 1, meaning after midnight tonight. It wasn't unexpected; I had been mentally prepared for it for a long time.

Many authors feel very uneasy before their books go on sale, because subscription figures determine a book's life or death, as well as the author's financial future.

My emotions are stable. I've taken life and death lightly.

Because I know I've already flopped.

The collection count only reached three thousand today, and the fantasy genre is so unpopular. The overall collection-to-subscription ratio is unbearably bad, so how high could the subscriptions possibly be?

I've lowered my expectations to the lowest point to avoid taking too hard a hit.

Lowering my expectations doesn't mean giving up, but I don't want to make any grand declarations either. For now, I only want to grind out chapters and strive to update steadily.

I'm a slow typist, so I write very slowly. After the book goes on sale, I'll do my best to update two chapters totaling six thousand words every day. If I'm in good shape, I'll write a third chapter.

The poor data for this book is my own problem.

According to the outline I came up with, I wanted to write a setting that combined several classic fantasy worlds, including Warhammer Fantasy, Faerun (Netheril), Azeroth, Dragonlance, The Lord of the Rings, Dark Souls, Demon Hunter, The Elder Scrolls, and others. Many famous characters will appear later, including the twelve Soul Saint Wizards of the High Council, each of whom has a real-world inspiration. Duke Silverstar is still rather mysterious for now, but Duke Redstone's inspiration is already quite obvious. I wonder if anyone has figured it out. I also spent a long time carefully refining the class system.
