Vikramaditya II was dead?

That was the first thought to arise in the minds of the Empire's Transcendents. They could hardly believe it, and then confusion filled them. What had just happened?

From their perspective, one of Rayne's Mirror Images had used Teleportation to send Vikramaditya II in front of Rayne. The area where Rayne stood suddenly froze for several seconds. When everything returned to normal, Vikramaditya II had vanished.

There had been no warning or process. It was as if those few seconds had been cut away.
