Taking Leave on the First Day

I originally planned to put on a good showing this New Year and not take any time off. This afternoon, I even spent two hours working on a detailed outline and the Empire Defense Army setting, preparing to start writing tonight. But then my family hosted guests, two or three tables' worth of them, and I got conscripted into doing labor—stoking the fire, serving dishes, and handing out cigarettes and drinks. It still hasn't ended... Looks like it'll probably go on until midnight. There goes one of my leave notices...

Luckily, today is the first. Otherwise, it would've been a disaster.
