Ch. 229Tracking the Wraith

Rayne spent days searching for the Undead Wizard while posing as Van Helsing and playing cards at the Crossroads Tavern, where he met Dinglaji and Bolin. After they tracked a Wraith-possessed Ranger to Dathom Town, Rayne moved toward the town before Dinglaji could decide whether to report the discovery.

  • Rayne searched the territory for the Undead Wizard but repeatedly stopped at the Crossroads Tavern to play cards and won most of his games.
  • Dinglaji offered Rayne a share of a monster-hunting mission to cancel his debt, and Bolin reluctantly agreed to include him.
  • Dinglaji detected a Wraith-possessed Ranger leaving an alchemical shop, and Rayne recognized the possession with his Soul Eye.
  • The three followed the Ranger’s trail to Dathom Town, where Dinglaji used a Nether Eye to find a courtyard holding the Ranger and two others unloading alchemical materials.
  • Dinglaji suspected the group was secretly refining a dangerous poison, but Rayne started toward the town before Dinglaji decided what to do.

Ch. 230Sword Slaying Witch

Rayne tracked an Undead Wizard to a courtyard in Dathom Town and attacked before she could finish refining poison. He defeated her after a fierce fight, leaving Dinglaji and Bolin outside as the courtyard fell silent.

  • Rayne heard the faint heartbeat of an Undead Wizard in the courtyard and decided to attack immediately rather than wait for reinforcements.
  • Rayne entered the courtyard alone, lured two guards outside with a pebble, and slipped past a Wraith-possessed Berserker.
  • The Undead Wizard spotted Rayne and launched a bone spike, but he killed the Berserker and used the corpse to block the attack.
  • Rayne charged the Undead Wizard, broke through her defenses with his Silver Sword, and drove her to the ground.
  • Rayne shattered the Undead Wizard's Bone Shield and killed her with a final strike from his Silver Sword.

Ch. 231A Roundabout Tip-Off

After killing the Undead Wizard, Rayne discovered evidence of a plan to spread Corpse Poison across Demon Capital and secretly alerted his teacher. The chapter left him preparing to have Pirino Aiden’s manor investigated without revealing his Soul Eye.

  • Rayne, Dinglaji, and Bolin found zombie experiments and enough Corpse Poison to infect hundreds of thousands of people.
  • Rayne found a map marking Glamorgan Territory and a death-powered emblem, and he and Dinglaji realized the Bone Altars could target Demon Capital’s most populated district.
  • Dinglaji reported the discovery to Rayne in his role as Earl, and Rayne returned with mercenaries to secure the manor and take the map and emblem.
  • Rayne teleported away to report the threat to his teacher, a Soul Saint Wizard, and marked Pirino Aiden’s manor on the map as a covert tip-off.

Ch. 233Fireballs Annihilate

Rayne brought evidence of the Death Knot Seal to Ansiwodoss, who uncovered a hidden Undead Wizard operation in Pirino Aiden’s manor and killed its Legendary leader. The manor contained a vast Bone Altar and Corpse Poison, while Pirino was taken into custody and the search for a third altar was assigned to Rayne.

  • Rayne told Ansiwodoss about the Undead Wizard, Bone Altar, and Death Knot Seal, and Ansiwodoss explained the power of the faction serving the Lord of Death.
  • Ansiwodoss, Rayne, and Isou went to Pirino Aiden’s manor, where Ansiwodoss used five Fireballs to kill a Legendary Intermediate Tier Undead Wizard.
  • Rayne and the others found a large Bone Altar and an Alchemy Room containing more than a hundred jars of Corpse Poison.
  • Pirino Aiden confessed that he had helped the Undead Wizards in exchange for a Lich transformation, and Ansiwodoss sent him through a portal for the High Council to judge.
  • Ansiwodoss ordered Speaker Kadeja and Speaker Rony to guard the manor and directed Rony to arrange support for Rayne’s search for the third altar.

Ch. 234The Calm Before the Storm

Rayne led the Wezelan Wizard Order in a search for the third Bone Altar and uncovered it, along with an Alchemy Room full of Corpse Poison. Though the immediate threat was contained, Rayne suspected the altars were only part of a larger conspiracy, leaving him awake and uneasy about what would come next.

  • Roni summoned Speaker Kleios and more than fifty members of the Wizard Order to assist Rayne, who organized teams to search Marquis Jiliu's Territory for the third Bone Altar.
  • Rayne and Isou searched factories and manors while the other teams combed the northern outskirts of the Demon Capital.
  • A Wizard Order team discovered an abandoned factory containing the third Bone Altar, an Alchemy Room, and an Undead Wizard's corpse; they had killed the wizard before he could release the Corpse Poison.
  • Marquis Jiliu arrived, and Rayne told him the matter was serious but withheld details; Rayne then returned to the castle while Isou left without speaking.
  • Rayne reassured Emilith and the mercenary group's senior members that he could not yet explain the situation, then lay awake worrying about the Death Knot Seal, the Demon Capital's nobles, Kolsted, and Farina.

Ch. 235Trial Assembly

Rayne gathered thirteen heavily armed Extreme Warriors and traveled to Ruin Square in the Floating City for Pirino Aiden’s trial. The assembled nobles, Wizards, and religious representatives watched as Ansiwodoss brought Pirino onto the platform.

  • A Wizerland Wizard told Rayne that Pirino Aiden’s trial would begin at Ruin Square in one hour.
  • Rayne ordered Sikarius to assemble the thirteen Extreme Warriors and take them to the Floating City, while Emilith and the others stayed behind to guard the castle.
  • Rayne met Akalande at his airship landing field, and they traveled together to the Floating City.
  • Rayne and the Extreme Warriors reached Ruin Square, where nobles, Wizards, Holy Swordsmen, and Earth Nuns gathered for the trial.
  • At ten o’clock, Ansiwodoss arrived with the other Speakers and brought Pirino Aiden onto the platform.

Ch. 236The Floating City's Division

Ansiwodoss sentenced Pirino Aiden to death and stripped his family of its title, lands, and noble status before revealing that Demon Capital’s nobles had secretly built another Floating City on Shield Island. As many Wizerland Wizards, including Speaker Modra, admitted their involvement, Ansiwodoss demanded to know why the others had joined her.

  • Ansiwodoss sentenced Pirino Aiden to death, reclaimed his territory and assets, and erased the Aiden Family’s noble status.
  • Ansiwodoss revealed that Pirino and Demon Capital’s lords had funded a second Floating City on Shield Island, and he ordered participating Wizards to step forward.
  • More than one hundred Wizards admitted their involvement, including Legendary Wizards Valega and three others, while Speaker Modra rose from her seat.
  • Modra explained that she had joined the project because she hoped to use a new Floating City’s Iola’s Core for a Soul Transformation Ritual and gain a chance at reaching the Soul Saint rank.
  • Ansiwodoss questioned the other Wizards about their reasons for leaving the Wizerland Floating City.

Ch. 237The Shocking Upheaval

Ansiwodoss allowed the Wizards and nobles of Demon Capital to leave Wizerland and establish New Homeland Floating City, but Master Ruin arrived with news that the city had fallen to the Death Knot Seal. Ruin then activated an Astral Crystal Pillar, and another Floating City appeared above Wizerland.

  • Valega and other Legendary Wizards said they were leaving because Wizerland lacked the money to build Wizard Towers and support them.
  • Villian admitted that the nobles of Demon Capital planned to build a new Floating City in the New Continent, and he and the departing Wizards knelt to ask Ansiwodoss for permission.
  • Ansiwodoss granted their request but ordered them to leave Wizerland immediately and never return.
  • Master Ruin arrived injured and reported that the Death Knot Seal had seized New Homeland Floating City and killed its inhabitants for soul sacrifices.
  • Rayne recognized the Astral Crystal Pillar in Ruin's hand and tried to stop him, but Ruin activated it and a Floating City emerged above Wizerland.

Ch. 238Soul Saint Lich

Rayne and the people of Wizerland Floating City faced the threat of a second Floating City emerging above Demon Capital, while Ansiwodoss discovered that Ruin had taken control of Wizerland. Kolsted revealed himself as a Soul Saint Lich, demanded the Book of the Dead, and introduced the Death Lord Usaz as his ally.

  • Wizerland Floating City suddenly stopped falling, and a partially built fortress called New Homeland Floating City appeared through a portal above Demon Capital.
  • Rayne and other powerful Transcendents failed to break Ruin's protective barrier as Ruin used his life to sustain the teleportation channel.
  • Ansiwodoss explained that Ruin had seized control of the Floating City, then ordered everyone to defend Wizerland High Tower and Iola's Core.
  • A Soul Saint Lich emerged from New Homeland Floating City and revealed himself as Kolsted, shocking Ansiwodoss, Farina, and the Wizards.
  • Kolsted admitted he had secretly arranged the construction of Naxas and claimed it as his own Floating City.
  • Kolsted demanded the Book of the Dead and introduced his allies, including the Death Lord Usaz riding a Bone Dragon.

Ch. 239Disaster Legion

The Death Lord Ezath launched the Scourge Legion’s assault on Wizerland Floating City, forcing its defenders to protect the entrances to Wizerland High Tower. Rayne fought his way toward the tower and smashed through the Wraith Cavalry at its third entrance as more undead fell from the sky.

  • Ezath opened the Floating City’s entrance and unleashed a vast undead army while Ansiwodoss burned thousands of the falling creatures with Cloud Burning Technique.
  • Ansiwodoss ordered the defenders to guard the four entrances to Wizerland High Tower, where Iola’s Core lay, and Rayne led the thirteen Extreme Warriors toward the tower.
  • The Death Lord’s threat threw the Floating City’s defenders into chaos, and Ansiwodoss engaged Ezath and Kolsted in battle.
  • Rayne and the Extreme Warriors fought through the undead, while Hines and Rony guarded the first entrance and Kleios, Villian, and others defended the second.
  • Rayne charged the Wraith Cavalry at the unguarded third entrance and destroyed them with the Extreme Warriors, absorbing their souls as more than a hundred undead fell nearby.

Ch. 240Spell Bombardment

Rayne defended the Wezeland High Tower entrance as the Scourge Legion sent waves of undead to exhaust the wizards and then attacked the Floating City’s residents. With the wizards leaving to protect civilians, Rayne stayed behind with Osiria and Marquis Jiliu as a much larger force of powerful undead descended.

  • Rayne killed an Abomination and used Lightning Burst Orbs to destroy waves of Skeleton Warriors and other low-level undead at the tower entrance.
  • Speaker Kadeja arrived with Osiria, other Legendary Wizards, elite Wezeland wizards, and Marquis Jiliu, and they organized the defense.
  • Rayne noticed the Scourge Legion was using weak undead to drain the wizards’ Soul Power, while he absorbed souls and raised Lightning Arc and Static Force Field to the Third Circle.
  • The Lords of Seals—Undead Wizards, Liches, and Death Knights—landed across the Floating City and began slaughtering its residents.
  • Many wizards left to rescue their families, so Rayne promised to hold the entrance with Osiria and Marquis Jiliu while Speaker Kadeja led the others away.
  • The Naxxramas Floating City sent down a much larger wave containing powerful undead, and Rayne prepared to face them.

Ch. 241Let the World Feel Pain

Rayne and his allies repelled repeated undead attacks at the tower while he strengthened the Extreme Warriors with the souls he harvested. He deliberately made their entrance appear weak to lure the Scourge Legion into a concentrated assault, and the chapter ended as the immense undead army charged toward them.

  • Rayne, Sonas, and Osiria held the tower steps against more than a hundred Crypt Spider Demons and other undead, with Rayne killing enemies with his Lightning Warhammer.
  • Rayne spent Soul Power to raise eleven Extreme Warriors to Advanced Tier as his Living Metal and Poison Resistance elements grew stronger.
  • Rayne told Xiliya to become invisible, intending to make their entrance seem poorly defended and draw the undead into a large-scale attack.
  • The Scourge Legion's commander sent more than half the undead army toward Rayne's entrance, and Rayne bolstered Sonas with Dragon Strength Technique.
  • Rayne rallied the Extreme Warriors as the undead advanced, then ordered them to take up their rifles and load.

Ch. 242Machine-Gun Firepower Net

Rayne and the Extreme Warriors unleashed their newly mass-produced Rambo's Guns against the undead army, forming a crossfire net that devastated the charging forces. As the defense held, Rayne absorbed the fallen undead souls to strengthen himself and the warriors, but his own capacity limited how much he could use.

  • Rayne equipped the Extreme Warriors with Rambo's Guns and arranged them into two groups to cover the tower entrance with alternating fire.
  • As thousands of Wraith Cavalry charged, Rayne ordered the Extreme Warriors to open fire, and their bullets tore through the cavalry and the undead behind them.
  • Rayne stood within the crossfire and absorbed the souls of the undead, channeling much of the Soul Power into the Extreme Warriors to strengthen them.
  • The Extreme Warriors alternated firing as their barrels overheated, steadily improving their aim while the undead corpses piled up below the steps.
  • Rayne's Living Metal reached Level 3 and his Poison Resistance reached level 8, while the Extreme Warriors grew stronger; Rayne stopped absorbing souls when his capacity neared its limit.

Ch. 243True Artillery Wizard

Rayne and the Extreme Warriors held off the Scourge Legion with machine-gun fire, magic, and a devastating defense against the gargoyles. As Rayne poured Soul Power into his warriors during the battle, Sikarius and Otto began transforming into legends, and Rayne’s Poison Resistance advanced into a Superb Element.

  • Rayne rotated the Extreme Warriors’ machine-gun fire while Ansiwodoss fought the Death Lord and Kolsted, then drew the gargoyles toward himself as Osiria protected the second group with Repulsion Field.
  • Rayne and the Extreme Warriors shot down the gargoyles, and Rayne used the Thunderbolt Hammer’s Chain Lightning to destroy a swarm that overwhelmed him after his gun jammed.
  • Rayne resumed firing and cast Lightning Burst Orbs into the undead ranks, using Battle Music to sustain his attacks and strengthen the Extreme Warriors with the souls he absorbed.
  • Rayne invested Soul Power in Sikarius and Otto, causing both of them to advance a Strength element into a Superb Element and begin their transformations into legends.
  • Rayne’s Poison Resistance advanced from level 8 to level 9 and became a Superb Element.

Ch. 244Soul of Steel

Rayne used his Superb Poison Resistance and spells to help hold the tower entrance against Naxxramas Floating City’s undead, while Wizerland suffered heavy losses. After Rayne shot down a Legendary Undead Wizard, a Legendary High Tier Death Knight attacked him, and the chapter ended with the Death Knight claiming Rayne’s soul belonged to him.

  • Rayne gained his fifth Superb Element, Level 9 Poison Resistance, then alternated between absorbing souls and casting Lightning Burst Orbs as the Extreme Warriors fought the undead.
  • Rayne assessed the Extreme Warriors’ dwindling ammunition and overheating guns, while Sikarius and Otto advanced to Legendary.
  • Rayne recognized Valega’s severed head and saw a Beginner Tier Legendary Undead Wizard approach the tower entrance.
  • Rayne and eight Extreme Warriors fired on the Undead Wizard, broke his shield, and shredded him with bullets.
  • Rayne discovered a Legendary High Tier Death Knight hidden among the undead, evaded its warhammer strike, and endured its death flames with his defenses.
  • The Death Knight faced Rayne and declared that Rayne’s soul already belonged to it.

Ch. 245Steel Avatar

Rayne fought the Death Knight, whose Soul of Steel and overwhelming strength made it a deadly threat to everyone defending the tower. After the Death Knight incapacitated Rayne and broke Osiria’s Repulsion Field, Rayne recovered and helped Sonas, Sikarius, and Otto knock the enemy down the steps, but Sonas kept attacking as it rose.

  • Rayne recognized the Death Knight’s Soul of Steel and other powerful elements, then charged to stop it from reaching the tower entrance.
  • The Death Knight caught Rayne with Grasp of Death and smashed him into a corpse pile before charging up the steps toward Osiria.
  • Osiria’s Repulsion Field collapsed under the Death Knight’s hammers, and Sonas, Sikarius, and Otto rushed in to block its attack.
  • Rayne rose from the corpses and threw his Thunderbolt Hammer, giving Sonas an opening to use Power Burst and knock the Death Knight down the steps.
  • Sonas, Sikarius, and Otto attacked the Death Knight’s Ironblood Armor, and Rayne warned them to retreat while Sonas continued hacking at it.

Ch. 246The Pinnacle of Strength

Rayne and Hines struggled to hold back the Death Knight at the tower entrance until Sonas gave Rayne a berserk potion and Troll Slayer, and Akalande supplied Titan Strength. The combined enhancements drove Rayne's strength to level 10 as he charged back into the fight.

  • The Death Knight broke Sonas's leg and clashed with Rayne, whose injuries healed through Metal Undying Body.
  • Hines arrived and used his Silver Sword to suppress the Death Knight, but it damaged his sword and left him badly injured.
  • Rayne dragged the near-death Sonas to safety, and Sonas lent him Troll Slayer and a Berserk Beast Blood Potion.
  • Rayne drank the potion and fought alongside Hines, while Akalande arrived in a Mechanical Armor and failed to pierce the Death Knight's defenses with his Soul Gun.
  • Hines cast Justice Blessing on Rayne, and Akalande gave him Titan Strength before deploying Mechanical Puppets to protect the entrance.
  • Titan Strength and Battle Music boosted Rayne's strength to level 10, and he charged the Death Knight with his warhammer and great axe.

Ch. 247Titan Strength

Rayne fought the Death Knight while preventing it from replenishing its Soul Power, buying time for Battle Music to reach its fourth cycle. As the ammunition ran out and the undead reached the tower steps, Rayne’s Strength surged to nearly twenty times its original level, and he prepared to overwhelm the Death Knight.

  • Hines used the Exorcism Spell to freeze the Death Knight briefly, allowing Rayne to break through its Ironblood Armor with a powerful Thunderous Smite.
  • Rayne battered the Death Knight with lightning and Troll Slayer, but it recovered by using its hammer to devour souls from the undead.
  • Rayne prevented Hines and Akalande from joining the fight and kept the Death Knight away from the tower entrance while the crossfire network ran out of ammunition.
  • As undead charged the steps, the Extreme Warriors prepared to defend the entrance, and Battle Music began its fourth cycle.
  • Rayne’s Strength rose to nearly twenty times its original level, and he announced that no one could defeat him in his music.

Ch. 248Third Soul Transformation

Rayne battled the Death Knight Ailon Rivennat, but Death Lord Usaz froze him and rescued Ailon before Rayne could claim his soul. Rayne then destroyed the Rune Array sustaining Ruin’s portal and protective barrier, absorbed an immense surge of Soul Power, and appeared to undergo Soul Transformation.

  • Rayne overwhelmed Ailon Rivennat with repeated hammer blows and nearly used Living Metal to force the weakened Death Knight out of its Saronite armor.
  • Usaz froze Rayne with Frostgrief and pulled Ailon and the Death Knight’s hammer into Naxxramas Floating City, but Ansiwodoss freed Rayne with a fireball.
  • Rayne held back the undead, then rushed to the plaza when he realized Ruin was nearing his limit and cleared the undead surrounding the protective barrier.
  • Rayne spotted a flaw in the unstable Rune Array and repeatedly struck it until the array collapsed, destroying the barrier and reducing Ruin Anseram to dust.
  • Rayne hid from the energy released by the collapsing array while his phone absorbed a vast amount of Soul Power, and the overload triggered what he recognized as a forced Soul Transformation.

Ch. 249Death Finger

Rayne discovered that lifting the Blood Soul Curse let him undergo Soul Transformation naturally while the battle for Wezelan Floating City turned in the defenders’ favor. As the invaders retreated and Rayne recovered Ruin’s treasures, a powerful hidden Lich targeted Ansiwodoss with Death Finger.

  • Rayne realized his Soul Transformation had begun naturally because the Blood Soul Curse was gone, and estimated it would finish in about ten minutes.
  • After Iola’s Core discharged its energy, the portal shrank and the Floating City’s protective barrier burned the invading undead while Ansiwodoss fought the Death Lord and Kolsted.
  • Rayne found the undamaged Astral Crystal Pillar, Ruin’s staff, and his Gem Brooch among the ruins, then returned to the tower entrance.
  • Rayne reunited with Osiria, Akalande, and the Extreme Warriors, learning that Sikarius and Otto had advanced to the Legendary Tier.
  • Rayne spotted a terrifying Lich aiming at Ansiwodoss, and the Lich cast Death Finger as Ansiwodoss tried to retreat behind the protective barrier.
