Cheng Tian had been randomly dropped by Chosen Space into an alley that did not contain the Waynes. Looking down the dim, long alley toward its end, he could see a bustling street shrouded in the night, bearing the traits of American cities from the eighties and nineties while also blending in a heavy Dark Gothic Style.
If he had to use two words to describe his first impression of this place, they would be darkness and smog. The city clearly looked decent enough, yet it gave him the feeling that breathing was a little difficult.
"Hm? Where did this yellow-skinned guy come from? How did I not notice him?"
Before Cheng Tian could take in the view any longer, a hoarse voice rasped out, as though someone were scraping their throat with shards of glass.
"Who cares~ Just rob him!"
Another voice spoke in an extremely BRO Black accent.
Wearing the suit-and-overcoat combination issued by Chosen Space, Cheng Tian looked toward the source of the voices. Unsurprisingly, he saw two homeless-looking men wrapped in tattered overcoats rise from beside the wall and approach with nearly textbook malicious expressions.
One of them reached into his coat, seemingly about to pull something out, while the other flicked his wrist, and the blade of a Spring Knife began to glint.
Then they saw a scene that completely defied their expectations.
"Oho? Robbers! This is my first time seeing living robbers!"
Cheng Tian stared at the two men before him with sparkling eyes.
As a middle-aged man who had lived in the safest country in the world, Cheng Tian had never personally encountered any violent crime in real life. Besides, he was the sort who would take a quick look when something happened and leave rather than join the crowd, so he had never seen real robbers, bandits, murderers, or the like until now.
Yet less than ten seconds after arriving in Gotham, these classic-characterized robbers had appeared right in front of him—and they were even a Black-and-white pair.
"Who the fuck are you calling robbers!? We're core members of the Moth Gang! Enough bullshit! Hand over everything valuable!"
The knife-wielding Black man in the lead was clearly getting impatient, mainly because Cheng Tian's words had sounded rather grating.
As for their actual identities, they were indeed members of an evil gang derived from a so-called Supervillain... well, External Members, really—the kind who threw their weight around because they had some connection to the real members.
Although they looked like robbers and their usual behavior was practically identical to homeless robbers, they remained deeply attached to the identity of "gang members." Cheng Tian's casual remark was equivalent to stabbing them right in the lungs.
As a gathering place for City-Level Gangs, Gotham City had countless useless bastards like them who hid behind gang names. And prey as fair-skinned and tender-looking as Cheng Tian was not something they came across every day.
If they had actually had any connections, they would have even wanted to sell Cheng Tian himself. Whether whole or dismembered, he should have fetched them a handsome profit.
"Take off your clothes too—"
The white robber, who stood a step behind the Black man, had barely opened his mouth when he saw that Cheng Tian had somehow produced a strange Wooden Stick. Then a bizarre hexagram shot from its tip.
The white man, who had been smoking weed just minutes ago, was already too sluggish to react. He practically stood there and let the hexagram smash into him. Then he felt his body grow lighter, while his Black colleague beside him suddenly became much taller and bigger, to the point where he had to crane his neck to see the man's face.
Huh? Why did Bob look so terrified when he looked at him?
Instinctively wanting to speak, the white man let out a sound that made the Black man, Bob, even more horrified the next second.
"Quack~"
A duck's voice emerged from the white man's hoarse throat.
Transfiguration: Duck!
Just as Bob turned in terror at the sight of his companion becoming a duck, the muscles in Cheng Tian's calves beneath his dress pants instantly tightened, and his entire body shot forward like a cheetah!
Bob only had time to raise his arms before his body was sent flying by a tremendous force.
It was no exaggeration to say that at the instant of impact, Bob had even thought that what hit him was a van traveling at least forty miles an hour!
Meanwhile, Cheng Tian grabbed the White Feather Duck by one wing and slammed him directly against the wall, knocking him unconscious on the spot.
After the white man returned to normal and woke from his coma, he found that his entire body ached and that he could not move freely. Straining to turn his head, he finally saw his fellow sufferer behind him.
He and Bob had been secured to the filthy Utility Pole in the alley with their hands tied together, using their own clothes as rope. The cold weather made them shiver uncontrollably.
Then he heard the utterly hateful voice of that yellow-skinned Asian.
"What was that name you mentioned earlier? Oh, right, the Moth Gang. You call yourselves gang members after ending up like this?"
"Bro, I suggest you untie us right now, or the Moth Gang won't let you—"
The final syllable abruptly rose in pitch before turning into a muffled scream, as though his head had been stuffed into a bucket.
Cheng Tian did not have a bucket, but he did have the Giant's Head. At this moment, he hung the One-Eyed Giant Monster's Head over Bob's head as if hanging up a hat, stuffing Bob's entire head into the giant's wide-open mouth!
The warm, sticky sensation of being sucked by a living mouth, along with the suffocating stench constantly filling his severed throat, left Bob only enough time for one scream before his eyes rolled back.
"You local gangs are terribly rude~"
Cheng Tian poked the unconscious Black man's ribs with the vampire cane in his hand, then stepped over to the white man.
"Come on, tell me~ What's your boss's name?"
Cheng Tian's smile became ever more kind and friendly.
"Assassin... Assassin Moth."
Only now realizing that he had run into someone truly dangerous, the white man finally forced out the name of a Supervillain through trembling lips.
