In the Metal Slug world—or rather, the mainline Metal Slug world—Martians were subject to genetic-level constraints that prevented them from breaking their genetic limits. They could only produce three standard types of Martians.

However, through Cheng Tian's Midnight Blessing, the Martian population successfully broke free of those limitations and gained far more possibilities.

Aside from their own planet's spacefaring technology, Martians clearly possessed an almost instinctive talent for mushroom cultivation. When that talent encountered Cheng Tian, whose DNA was etched with the instinct to farm, the result was an intense spark.

During this month's stay in the space, Cheng Tian spent Chosen Coins to carve out a mushroom farm within the ship specifically for growing and cultivating mushrooms. This area was designated as part of the "Central Dome Area" and placed south of the Core Command Laboratory.

The mushrooms cultivated here were not merely food for the Martians. They also included Martian-exclusive enhancement items and even class-change items.

Like the Super Mushroom Root of Mars had used before, it had been cloned and cultivated using spores Root of Mars extracted from its own body. A plot had already been set aside specifically for growing Super Mushrooms, and the first batch had been successfully harvested.

However, the Super Mushrooms grown this way were not Space Items that players could use normally. Instead, they were exclusive items limited to the Martian race. Protected by fungal-fluid encryption, only Martians belonging to the Scorching Sun Legion could use these Super Mushrooms to grow bigger and stronger. Brother Gen had even combined Wutan's technology with Cheng Tian's Midnight Blessing to successfully cultivate a brand-new Martian troop type exclusive to the Scorching Sun Legion—

Super Martians.

Of course, the difference between Super Martians and ordinary Martians was nowhere near as immense as that between Super Saiyans
