"Defense! Quick, fall back!"
Seeing the opponent launch a fast counterattack, Bayern's captain Lahm sprinted toward Lin Quan while shouting to his teammates.
Only Boateng was beside him; without a word, they instinctively chose one to press and the other to cover behind.
Though Lahm called for support, he didn't take Lin Quan too seriously.
The kid was far too young. Under the heavy pressure from defenders, such a young player would likely panic and make the wrong choice.
His loud shouts weren't just to summon help—they were also meant to pressure Lin Quan mentally, making him realize that if he slowed down, the Bayern players behind would catch up.
So he had to get past Lahm quickly.
And in that urgency, his dribbling intent would be obvious.
Lahm was a short defender, far more agile than bulky giants.
So as soon as Lin Quan showed signs of breaking through, Lahm was confident he could steal the ball.
So, young lad, what will you choose?
Lin Quan didn't even glance at Lahm, as if the man didn't exist.
He looked up toward the goal. Neuer had already retreated to the edge of the penalty area.
A direct lob had little chance—Neuer's save ability could easily stop it.
Behind Lahm, Boateng kept a reasonable distance from his teammate. Even if Lin Quan got past Lahm, he'd lose speed and space.
Then Boateng could easily take the ball from him or knock it away.
So he had to get past both of them.
With that thought, Lin Quan adjusted his stride and feigned a move to the right.
Since he was a right winger and had been dribbling with his right foot, Lahm saw the motion and lunged confidently for the ball.
But the ball vanished from his sight!
What?
Lahm froze!
It was a fake!
Now Lin Quan, dribbling with his left foot, charged at Boateng.
Boateng hadn't seen how his teammate got beaten, only that the ball was flying toward him.
He instinctively tried to kick it, but another foot struck the ball first, changing its direction.
Boateng breathed a sigh of relief—thankfully he hadn't rashly stuck his foot out. The kid's touch was frighteningly fast; he had no chance of reaching the ball first.
This kid's no pushover!
Alarms blared in Boateng's mind. He realized both he and his teammate had underestimated this young forward.
He was far more dangerous than he looked. In fact, Boateng felt a faint familiarity.
It was like facing Barca's number 10!
At that thought, Boateng grew even more cautious.
He watched the ball, sidestepping and backing off, refusing to give Lin Quan a chance to break through.
Lahm had been beaten, but not completely. His short stature and low center of gravity let him turn instantly and chase Lin Quan.
If Boateng could hold out for a few seconds, Lahm would catch up and they'd double-team him.
Even Messi would be trapped then.
Lin Quan knew this too, so he started closing in on Boateng.
Seeing him approach, Boateng sensed trouble.
He didn't know what the kid was planning, but it clearly wasn't good.
Just then, both crossed the penalty area line.
Spotting the white line on the ground, Boateng suddenly understood.
He's trying to draw a foul for a penalty!
Can't let him succeed!
Boateng immediately put his hands behind his back to avoid a handball.
He also kept a proper distance to prevent any dive.
Seeing Boateng's reaction, Lin Quan smiled.
He cut the ball to the left, and as Boateng shifted his weight that way, he instantly cut it back to the right.
But Boateng, with his excellent physique, adjusted his weight back.
Lin Quan wasn't done, though. He cut the ball to the left again.
And this time, as he faked the shot, he also changed direction, widening the gap between himself and Boateng.
Boateng's heart raced with urgency, and he immediately tried to twist and follow, but his center of gravity hadn't adjusted at all—so with a thud, he hit the ground.
Whoa!
The entire stadium erupted in uproar. Their own center-back had been shaken off by the opponent without any physical contact?
Was that a joke?
That kid was only sixteen!
Not only were the fans struggling to accept it, but even the Bayern players on the pitch were stunned.
Lahm, closest to the scene, watched Lin Quan get past Boateng and knew he couldn't catch up. So he could only pin his hopes on the goalkeeper.
"Neuer, it's up to you!"
Neuer stared at Lin Quan with a resolute gaze. He didn't choose to wait passively but charged out immediately, lunging at Lin Quan.
Neuer was tall with long arms, and when he spread them, his coverage was vast.
His decisive charge made it hard for many forwards to get past his fingertips when facing him.
But Lin Quan wasn't intimidated.
Seeing Neuer rush in, he faked a shot and cut to the side, creating space, then took a step forward and dribbled right past Neuer.
Once Neuer lowered his center of gravity, his footwork became far less agile. At this point, he couldn't possibly catch Lin Quan, and could only watch helplessly as the opponent bypassed him and kicked the ball into the empty net.
In the eighth minute of the match, Werder Bremen used a counterattack opportunity, with Lin Quan scoring a goal, changing the score to 1-0!
The Allianz Arena fell into dead silence, fifty thousand fans utterly quiet.
Only the two thousand traveling Werder Bremen fans in the east stands, after a brief moment of shock, erupted into huge cheers.
The team had actually taken the lead!
This was such a pleasant surprise, such an unexpected turn!
In a luxury box at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich's club president and manager were entertaining a guest from afar—Barca's former coach, Guardiola.
The two chatted while watching the game.
Through their conversation, Rummenigge had come to greatly admire Guardiola's coaching philosophy, convinced he was the right man for Bayern.
So he decided to test the waters, to see what Guardiola thought of Bayern:
"Heh, Coach Guardiola, what do you think of the current Bayern squad?"
Guardiola felt that as a guest, he should say something nice about the host.
So he spoke: "Bayern's squad is excellent, balanced in attack and defense.
Whether it's the offensive setup up front or the organization and defensive lineup in midfield and back, they're all top-tier in European football."
Hearing Guardiola's high praise for Bayern, Rummenigge grew even more pleased.
"Heh, Coach Guardiola flatters us. Our team's results over the past few years haven't been great, you know. If the squad were really as good as you say, we wouldn't have gone two years without a title."
Guardiola shook his head and said: "Every team has its ups and downs in performance—that's perfectly normal. Bayern reaching the Champions League final last year is proof enough of your strength!"
"I hear your son plays in the Bundesliga?"
Hoeness, seeing the president so satisfied with Guardiola, tried to build rapport with him, strengthen their connection, and then naturally extend a coaching invitation.
"Mm, he plays for the team on the other side!"
"Oh? What a coincidence. Then, Coach Guardiola, what do you think of this match's outcome? Who will win?"
Guardiola thought for a moment and answered seriously: "In theory, of course, Bayern will win. But football is round—no one knows the result until the final whistle blows."
No sooner had he spoken than Werder Bremen launched a counterattack. Lin Quan dribbled at full speed, beat two players, then bypassed the goalkeeper, slotting the ball in to change the score.
Guardiola smiled, spread his hands toward the two men, and said with a hint of pride: "See? Football is round!"
